Tras Mutiara Hotel Bentong - Pahang

Tras Mutiara Hotel is located in Bentong and offers budget-friendly accommodation for travellers who are simply looking for a place to rest. The hotel provides basic facilities with minimal amenities, making it more suitable for short stays rather than a comfortable or luxurious experience. It is situated in a shop lot area with plenty of parking available, although only two parking spots are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking is chargeable on weekdays, so we had to wake up at 8am to pay the parking fee. Upon check-in, we were given a pouch containing the room key, air conditioner remote, and TV remote.

The room was quite basic and came with two complimentary bottles of mineral water. However, there were no coffee or tea sachets provided, just a kettle for boiling hot water. Other items like disposable slippers, a mini fridge, an in-room safe, and facial tissues were not available. A hair dryer wasn’t placed in the room either, but it could be requested from the reception and had to be returned at check-out. The iron and ironing board were located outside near the lift.

The blanket was on the thinner side, though still fine. The bed felt quite firm, and the pillows were a bit too high for comfort. Only two pillows were provided at first, but the staff kindly gave us two more when we asked. Extra bottles of mineral water, however, came with an additional charge.

The water pressure in the bathroom was quite low, and the water came out extremely hot. Even after switching off the heater, it still stayed warm, possibly because of the hot weather outside. The shower area was rather cramped, and the bathroom tended to feel stuffy after use due to poor ventilation. The lighting in the shower area was quite dim, and the shower curtain also had an unpleasant smell.

Entertainment and workspace facilities were quite limited. The TV only had four channels, but even those were not very clear, while the rest were fuzzy and difficult to watch. The work desk area was very small, and the wall-mounted TV above it made the space feel a bit cramped. The area was poorly lit and would have been better with a desk lamp. Besides that, there were only three power sockets in the room, which made it a bit inconvenient to charge multiple devices.

At night, when my partner used the water heater, the room light noticeably flickered and the heater itself made a loud noise, which felt quite uncomfortable and slightly unsettling. We also noticed that there were very few guests staying at the hotel during our visit.

Overall, Tras Mutiara Hotel is a very basic budget accommodation, suitable for short stays if affordability is the main priority. While it does provide the essential necessities for a night’s rest, the overall experience is affected by limited amenities, maintenance issues, and a lack of comfort. It may work well for a quick stopover, but it is less ideal for travellers looking for a more comfortable or relaxing stay.
