AC Hotel Kuantan - Pahang

AC Hotel Kuantan is located in Kuantan, the capital city of Pahang, Malaysia. It is situated in a fairly central area, making it convenient to access nearby restaurants, shopping areas, and main roads around the city. The parking system was simple and convenient, offering both open-air and basement parking, although basement parking spaces were limited. Entry was done using TNG, debit, or credit card, and the same card had to be verified at the reception before exiting. Once verified, the exit process was smooth and hassle-free. However, there was no lift access from the basement parking, so guests had to use the stairs to reach the lobby, which was inconvenient when carrying luggage. It was advisable to drop off larger bags at the lobby before parking.

The room layout felt very similar to AC Hotel Ipoh, with a modern, and minimal design. We stayed for two nights in a Prime Deluxe King room, which came with a comfortable king-sized bed placed centrally, bedside tables on both sides, and a work desk positioned near the wall. The lighting was warm and adequate, creating a comfortable atmosphere for both rest and light work. There were standard in-room amenities such as bottled water, coffee and tea-making facilities, an electric kettle, wardrobe space, two pairs of disposable slippers, an in-room safe and a mini fridge. The TV setup was fairly basic, offering around 15 channels, which was sufficient for simple entertainment but not very extensive.

Inside the bathroom, the water pressure was decent and the hot water worked well, making the shower experience comfortable. Basic toiletries were provided, including wall-mounted shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner, along with hand soap by the sink. A magnifying makeup mirror was also available in the bathroom, which was a nice and practical touch. However, the bathroom layout felt quite compact overall. The shower area was small, and it was easy to accidentally bump into the safety bar while moving around. Water also tended to leak out of the shower area, leaving the bathroom floor wet after use. In addition, there was no proper shelf or storage space for toiletries inside the shower, which made it less convenient.

Cleanliness was the most disappointing aspect of the stay. One of the towels had visible yellow stains, and the pillow was also marked in a similar way. It was the first time I had encountered a hotel where even the pillow was stained, which came as both unexpected and disappointing. Basic hygiene standards are usually expected in hospitality, so this fell well below expectations.

The hotel facilities included a swimming pool, a gym, and basic meeting or event spaces. The pool area was simple and suitable for a quick dip or relaxation, although there was no lifeguard on duty. The gym was compact with essential equipment for light workouts. The facilities were functional rather than extensive, best suited for short stays or business trips. However, the lift access system did not function properly during the stay, as the room key card could access all floors, raising some security concerns.

Overall, the stay was comfortable in terms of room design, lighting, and water pressure, but there were clear areas that needed improvement, particularly in housekeeping and bathroom practicality. While the hotel provided decent comfort for a short stay, the room rate felt slightly high compared to AC Hotel Ipohmaking the experience less value for money than expected.
