The Westin Desaru Coast Resort is a peaceful beachfront escape located along the scenic coastline of Desaru in Johor, Malaysia. Surrounded by a calm and refreshing atmosphere, the resort offers direct access to the beach and is designed for travellers who want to slow down, unwind, and enjoy a more relaxed pace by the sea.

We stayed for two nights, and from the moment we arrived, the experience was smooth and hassle-free. The parking system is well-designed and easy to use. When entering the basement car park, the system automatically scans your car plate at the barrier. After parking, we took the lift from the basement car park straight up to Level 2, where the hotel lobby is located. During check-in, we simply provided our car plate number for registration in the hotel system. Once registered, exiting was seamless as the system detected our vehicle and the barrier opened automatically whenever we went in and out throughout our stay, with no payment or ticket required. It made coming in and out very hassle-free.

The room felt spacious, clean, and welcoming. One of the standout features was the open-concept bathroom, which included a clean bathtub visible from the room itself, adding a modern and subtly luxurious touch to the overall design. The bed was soft and comfortable, making it easy to rest and recharge after a long day. The room also came with a ceiling fan, a TV with a variety of channels, a private balcony overlooking a pond, an umbrella, an in-room safe, two pairs of disposable slippers, a weighing scale, an iron with ironing board, and a water filter for drinking water, which was very practical during the stay.

The bathroom was well-designed with decent water pressure, although the maximum hot water temperature was only mildly warm. I personally prefer hotter water. The shower and toilet are separated, each in its own transparent cubicle, giving a modern open design feel. Apart from that, the basin was a little low, and the corridor outside the room tended to feel slightly warm at times.

One of the main attractions of the resort is its pool area, which includes two swimming pools: the Splash Pool and the Muara Lagoon Pool. The Splash Pool is located closer to the beach and offers a livelier atmosphere with ocean views, while the Muara Lagoon Pool is quieter and more suitable for families or those looking for a peaceful swim. Just a few steps away, the beach provides soft sand and calming sea views, making it perfect for morning walks, sunset moments, or simply relaxing by the shore.

The resort also features a well-equipped fitness centre, steam room, and whirlpool, with separate facilities for male and female guests. On Level 6, the Coral Lounge offers a fun indoor play area with pool, ping pong, congkak, and board games, making it a great spot to relax and unwind. To access the guest room floors, a room key card is required in the lift for security, which adds a sense of privacy and safety throughout the stay.

Overall, The Westin Desaru Coast Resort is a destination that focuses on comfort, relaxation, and a slower pace of life. Whether spending time by the pool, walking along the beach, or simply resting in the room, everything is designed to help guests unwind and enjoy the moment.
