Restaurant Xin Quan Fang is one of our favourite places for curry noodles in Ipoh. Despite having a less-than-pleasant experience with the lady boss in the past due to her impatient attitude when taking orders, we still continue to return because the curry noodles are genuinely good. However, during this visit, we did not see the lady boss around, and the ordering experience was much more pleasant. The uncle who attended to us was friendly and welcoming. As usual, we ordered Set C along with a cup of teh c ping without sugar. The drink was quite light with a slightly sourish taste, which did not suit my preference. The set came with a generous variety of ingredients, including prawns, roasted pork, pig skin, bean sprouts, char siu, and steamed chicken. The shop itself was quite warm, but the comforting bowl of curry noodles made the visit worthwhile. Our initial plan was to spend two nights in Malacca before moving on to another city. However, by the third day, we realised there were still many food places and dishes that we had yet to try. So, we decided to extend our stay for one more night. Just like the previous days, we began our morning with brunch. While making our way to Restoran Baba Ang, we drove past the Malacca Warrior Monument, a memorial built to commemorate the Chinese victims of the Japanese occupation. Although we didn’t make a stop, it was one of the landmarks that caught our attention along the way. When we arrived at the restaurant, we initially thought it was closed as it looked rather quiet from the outside. Fortunately, it was open, and we parked behind the restaurant before heading in. We started our day in Melaka with a local favourite, chicken rice balls for lunch at Huang Chang Chicken Rice Restaurant. The chicken rice balls were soft, fragrant, and flavourful, making them enjoyable even on their own. The chicken was served warm, but the breast meat was a little dry and didn't taste particularly fresh. My partner enjoyed the meal more, especially with the drumstick cut, which was juicier and more satisfying.  We also ordered an iced barley and Chinese tea. The tea was, as usual, refreshing, while the iced barley was still much sweeter than expected despite our request for less sugar.
