Blu Sentral Hotel is located in Kubota Sentral, surrounded by plenty of dining options, and Tawau Airport is just a 30-minute drive (28km) away. The hotel is a converted shop lot with only two floors. Guests need to tap their key card in the lift to access the room level. The lift itself is small, but thankfully it doesn't feel stuffy. The corridor is strongly air-conditioned, which feels especially refreshing after returning from the heat outside. We stayed for two nights in a deluxe twin room, which featured two single beds, a wall-mounted smart TV with limited channels (but Netflix and YouTube were available), a work desk, a wall-mounted hair dryer, two pairs of disposable slippers, coffee or tea-making facilities, two complimentary bottles of drinking water, individually controlled air conditioning, and basic toiletries. Rooms Hotel is located in Kubota Square, easily accessible to eating places and Tawau Airport is just 30 minutes drive (28km) from the hotel. We decided to stay here for 2 nights after our Pom Pom - Mataking Island trip. Basically it's just a shoplot turn into a hotel. There's only 3 floors and hotel lift is small, which probably can fit 4 person without luggage. Lift requires a room card in order to access guest room floor. We stayed in a deluxe twin room since their superior queen and superior king room are all fully occupied. Our room comes with two single beds, wall mounted fuzzy TV with limited Astro channels, working desk, wall mounted hair dryer, free WiFi (access for 2 devices only), disposable slippers, coffee or tea making facilities, 2 complimentary bottles of drinking water, self controlled air conditioning and toiletries. LA Hotel is strategically located in the town of Tawau and easily accessible to eating places. There's Covid-19 temperature screening upon entry to their hotel and room floors can only be accessed with the room card key. We decided to stay here for three nights after our Mabul-Kapalai Island trip. At the reception desk, we were asked to choose either king size bed or two single beds. We were told that the room rate for a king size bed is RM 148 per night and for two single beds is RM 138 per night. We preferred the king size bed and when we entered our room, the first thing I noticed was the room smells like cigarettes. Then we realized they gave us a smoking room. We were a bit tired and lazy to request for a room change but there were just too many issues with the room. We found out that the bathroom sink is clogged and there's a half dead cockroach on the toilet floor. There's no way we're going to wait for the maintenance people to come and unclog the bathroom sink....
