Bungaraya Island Resort is located in Gaya Island. It's the largest island in the Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park and the closest island to Kota Kinabalu. Echo Resorts have 2 luxury island resorts in Gaya Island namely Bungaraya Island Resort and Gayana Marine Resort . We have stayed one night at Gayana Marine Resort earlier this year and this round we decided to check out Bungaraya Island Resort. It's approximately 45 minutes slow boat ride from Jesselton Point. There's 4 types of room - Superior villa, deluxe villa, plunge pool villa and two-bedroom deluxe suite. We booked a 3 days 2 nights stay. Currently the resort only opens on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Package (RM 650 per night for 2 pax in a Superior villa) includes breakfast for 2 person, 1 night accommodation and return boat transfer (Jesselton Point - Bungaraya Island Resort - Jesselton Point). Our room comes with a king size bed, in-room safe, mini fridge, LCD TV (variety of channels), 4 bottles of drinking w...

Gayana Marine Resort - Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

Gayana Marine Resort is located in Gaya Island, just next to  Gaya Island Resort . It's approximately 25 minutes slow ferry ride from Jesselton Point to Gayana Marine Resort. Their customer service is poor because nobody seems to pick up the phone and they took weeks to respond to our inquiry email. Finally they responded via email and asked us to confirm our booking on the same day, which was a Thursday. Since we're quite flexible in terms of time, we agreed for the weekend stay. There's 4 types of villa - Rainforest villa (private balcony overlooking the forest), Ocean villa (the room features a private balcony with stairs that lead straight into the sea), Breeze villa (family room with additional bedding and two bathrooms) and Palm villa (private plunge pool and deck). However, their current promotion only available for 3 types of villa excluding Breeze villa. We booked a 2 days 1 night stay package (RM 550 for 2 pax in a Rainforest villa). Currently the resort only open...

It was an impromptu trip to Gaya Island Resort. We booked the Residents Package one day earlier and paid everything online. However upon arrival at the Resort, you need to pay a cash deposit of RM500. On the day itself we just packed a small backpack and off we go to Gaya Island! Love the thrill of a last minute trip. Gaya Island Resort is located in the Tunku Abdul Marine Park just 10 minutes speedboat ride from Jesselton Point, Kota Kinabalu. The weather wasn't really promising that day and it was drizzling when we took the 2pm speedboat to Gaya Island Resort. Resort staff waited at the Gaya Island Resort private jetty with umbrellas and we were warmly greeted on arrival. While we waited to check in, we were given a popsicle as refreshment. Shortly after that, a friendly staff guided us around the resort and then brought us to our room. The villa was located quite a distance away from the beach and hotel lobby. So, you need a bit of walking here... We stayed 3 days 2 night...
