MU Hotel - Ipoh, Perak

Image
After our trip down from Cameron Highlands, we decided to stay at MU Hotel, a stylish boutique hotel located in the heart of Ipoh. It's just a 5-minute walk (350m) from our favourite Nasi Ganja Ipoh . The hotel has six floors, but the rooftop MU Bar is currently closed. We spent the night in a standard twin room. The room looked modern but was on the dim side, even in the bathroom. The beds were soft and comfortable, each with a bolster. The room was clean, just not very spacious, and it didn't have a proper work desk. The wall-mounted smart TV only had nine channels, and while it worked fine for basic use, the TVN channel kept lagging. The air conditioning was freezing, but luckily the temperature could be adjusted. Unfortunately, the room wasn't very soundproof, as we could hear people walking in the hallway outside. The bathroom had a shower and a toilet, each in its own separate cubicle with a shared sliding door. The water pressure was normal, and the water was hot eno...

AC Hotel Ipoh - Ipoh, Perak

The AC Hotel, formerly known as the Syuen Hotel , is conveniently located just a short 3-minute walk from the Ipoh Parade shopping mall. To reach the main lobby, guests must take an escalator up from the entrance. Although there are lifts located beside the luggage room, they were not clearly indicated. Additionally, the downwards escalator from the lobby was under maintenance during our visit. We were able to check in early at around 1pm and were assigned a Prime Deluxe King room on the fifth floor. Access to the guest floor is secure, as you need your room key card to activate the card reader in the lift before heading to your floor. On our second day, my room card failed to access the lift, but the issue was quickly resolved at the reception. The room was spacious and clean, featuring an open wardrobe concept. It was equipped with a king-size bed, a sofa bed, two pairs of disposable slippers, a mini fridge, an in-room safe, coffee or tea-making facilities, two complimentary sealed g...

M Boutique Ipoh - Ipoh, Perak

Our first night at  M Roof Hotel & Residences  was not very pleasant. Instead of staying two nights there, we decided to change hotel and give M Boutique Ipoh a try. This motel is around a 4-minute drive (1.3km) from my favourite  Restaurant Tauge Ayam Lou Wong . The motel has only three stories and an open-air parking lot behind it. We stayed one night in a superior room that comes with a queen-size bed, a TV with limited channels, a working desk, air conditioning with individual temperature control, three complimentary bottles of drinking water, coffee or tea making facilities, a mini fridge, two pairs of disposable slippers, two bathrobes, an in-room safe, a wall-mounted hair dryer, a torch light, complimentary WiFi and basic toiletries. The room is small yet well-designed. They even have a chandelier but I'm not comfortable sleeping with one right above our heads. Perhaps I watch to many horror movies, as if the chandelier will fall on our bed. The bed is com...
