Perth - Day 4 (Little Creatures - Fremantle Markets)

It's a Sunday and our plan is to visit Fremantle Markets. I suggested Little Creatures since we never been there before. While the waiter took order from Carmen, we went to the brew house for beer tasting. The beer tasting tray consisting of 10 (65ml) beers is a great way to determine which beer suits your taste. It's an enjoyable process to try all 10 types of beer. They even provide you a beer tasting notes. I tried all 10 beers and I prefer Loteria Mexican Cerveza as it's light with a citrus twist and easy to drink. I guess I like my beer with a hint of citrus because Elsie WA ale taste ok to me as well except there's a gentle bitterness in it. Among all the beers, Ginger beer has a strong sweet taste. I don't really enjoy their all time favourite Rogers' amber ale because there's a mild bitterness in it. Glad that Leo was there to finish all the tasting beers for us.

Little Creatures beer tasting tray consists of the following:
1. Loteria Mexican Cerveza - 4.2%
2. Freo lager - 4.8%
3. Little hazy lager - 3.5%
4. Elsie WA ale - 4.2%
5. Rogers' amber ale - 3.8%
6. Pacific ale - 4.4%
7. Pale ale - 5.2%
8. Extra pale ale - 4.9%
9. Ginger - 4%
10. Pipsqueak apple cider - 5.2%

We head back to the restaurant after beer tasting and the timing is just nice as all the dishes have been served. Carmen ordered squid, king prawns, beef brisket, fries and 2 types of pizza - salami, pepperoni, artichoke & black olive pizza and buffalo mozzarella, tomato & basil pizza. I like their crispy fries and squid. Apart from that, their beef brisket is slow-cooked to a very tender texture. Overall the restaurant has a good ambience and a great place to chill with your friends.

Fremantle Markets is one of the most popular tourist attraction in Perth and only open on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays. It's within a short walking distance from Little Creatures. Leo bought us orange slush and Levi's doughnut. Orange slush is a bit too sour for us and Levi's doughnut is a bit too sweet for our liking. I guess our craving for sweet stuff decreases as we age.

Carmen bought roasted pork belly Banh Mi from Viet Kites. Banh Mi comes with homemade mayo, homemade chicken liver pate, carrot, daikon pickles, cucumber, spring onion and coriander. You may select your choice of meat - roasted pork belly (best seller), traditional steamed pork & pork ham, grilled marinated pork, lemongrass chicken, tofu or grilled pork & roasted pork belly. The Banh Mi has a crusty exterior and their roasted pork belly has a crisp skin. Overall it's nice except for the coriander as both of us don't fancy it.

We were looking for Dosukoi, one of our favourite Japanese noodle house but sadly the shop changed its name to Aki Japanese. We ordered a bowl of Tonkotsu ramen with chashu but it doesn't taste superb anymore. No wonder the shop is quite empty and the menu looks different.
