Perth - Day 6 (Roll'd Mandurah Forum)
Roll'd is an Australian based fast food chain Vietnamese food. They have many outlets and here we are at Roll'd Mandurah Forum. We ordered vegetable spring rolls, crispy chicken ribs, roasted pork belly bao, crispy prawn bao, sliced beef Pho, Viet salad with lemongrass beef and grill pork chop with egg. I like their vegetable spring rolls, crispy chicken ribs and crispy prawn bao. The vegetable spring roll is really crispy and flavourful. It's best enjoyed with their dipping sauce. Crispy chicken ribs is good too but a bit salty for my liking. I love their crispy prawn bao. Prawn is coated with batter, fry to golden crispy perfection. Apart from that, the bao is super soft, fluffy with a bouncy texture. Perfect combination with the crispy prawn.
My partner loves their Com Tam also known as broken rice. Basically it's a combination of steamy fragrant rice served with pickled vegetables, nuoc mam sauce, grilled pork chop and egg. There's 3 types of broken rice for you to choose from - grilled pork chop with egg, BBQ beef steak or barramundi fillet. The broken rice has a big portion and we can hardly finish it. We had their slice beef Pho too but I don't really enjoy it. Vietnamese pho soup is all about the broth and rice noodles. However, the broth is lacking in savory richness and rice noodles texture is not silky smooth. We wanted to try their rice paper rolls but it's already sold out by 2.30pm. Anyway we will definitely be back again to try out other dishes.
