The thunderstorms last night certainly kept me awake for an hour or two. It's still raining in the morning and glad that we have an umbrella in our room. We had our breakfast around 8.45am. I like their Vietnamese noodle soup or also known as Pho. It has a flavourful broth and vermicelli texture is just right for me. It's soft and easy to eat. At the same time, I had my favourite porridge with crispy anchovies. Having a warm bowl of soup noodles or hot porridge on a rainy day is always comforting.
After breakfast we decided to explore the island by foot. It took us almost 50 minutes to walk around the island. In some areas of the beach you will get wet as there's fallen trees blocking the shoreline. Some parts are quite challenging for me as I need to go underneath the fallen tree and waves came crashing all around me. Luckily my partner was there to guide me. We walked past the police station and army camp. They have their own jetty and we're restricted to go near the jetty.
Check out time is 11am and waited for our lunch until 12pm. There's free WiFi at the restaurant and speed is good. After lunch we walked to the resort lobby where the resort staff were busy loading our luggage into their three wheel cargo motor. They have this system of calling out guest's room number before putting their luggage into the cargo motor. We departed from Mataking Reef Resort around 2pm and our boat is fully packed.

Our speed boat back to Seafest Jetty
Finally, we reached Seafest Jetty around 2.45pm. It's a smooth 45 minutes boat ride. The resort arranged a van to picked us up from the jetty at 3pm and there's seven of us. The van driver dropped them at Tawau Airport before sending us to
ROOMS hotel. By the time we reach our hotel it's almost 5pm. We took a short nap and later walked to
Kam Ling Seafood Restaurant for dinner. The restaurant is just 4 minutes walking distance (350m) from our hotel. Two years ago we went to this restaurant for dinner and we love their salt & pepper mantis prawn. This round we ordered two different cooking styles of mantis prawns - salt & pepper mantis prawn and salted egg mantis prawn. On top of that we ordered tiger prawn with superior soy sauce, Kam Ling Style steamed fish and spinach with garlic.
Fish is fresh but their sauce is a bit too sweet for my liking. It tastes like Thai sweet sauce. The spinach leaves are young and taste great. My favourite dish of the night is the tiger prawn. It's fresh and the meat is sweet with a firm texture. I no longer fancy the mantis prawns because it has too much yolky eggs. Apart from that. the texture is a bit soft and has a strong seafood taste.

We looked back at our previous food blog in Tawau and we decided to return to
Ice Idea Dessert Cafe and try out their mango shaved ice that we didn't get to eat two year ago. However, the shop was already closed when we got there around 9pm. We ended up at Regiustea and ordered Milky Mango Grass Jelly. Slightly sweet and it has a strong taste of Jasmine tea. The best part of the drink is the chewy cubes and mango jelly. After dessert we head back to our hotel. It's a bit quiet at Kubota Sentral as many shops close early.
