Perth - Day 8 (Tak Chee House - Kumo - The Kauphy Place - The Continental)

Tak Chee House is located at Northbridge, one of Carmen and Leo's favourite chicken rice in Perth. We decided to have our brunch here and ordered steamed Hainanese chicken, fried Hainanese chicken and sambal kangkung. Their chicken rice is fragrant and flavourful but slightly undercooked. Both of us agree that the chicken rice taste better when takeaways. It's a small restaurant and one of the staff has an unfriendly attitude when taking orders from us. He truly made us feel unwelcome in their restaurant.

Kumo is just 1 minute (100m) walking distance from Tak Chee House. It's a dessert shop selling soufflé pancake. There's 4 types of soufflé pancake for you to choose from - sunny honey, strawberry skies, mango tango and chocolate cloud. I chose chocolate cloud - chocolate chip stuffed soufflé pancake served with Bailey's choc sauce and fresh strawberries. The soufflé texture is dense and wet. Perfect soufflé texture should feels light and fluffy. Overall, we didn't really enjoy our dessert.

Wife biscuit or known as lou phor peng in Cantonese is a Chinese pastry with flaky thin skin filled with soft chewy winter melon paste and sesame seeds. Since we're at Winthrop Village for a quick shopping, Carmen suggested we get a box of wife biscuit from Hawker's Cafe. The pastry is on the sweet side but it doesn't taste that great to me.

We had our tea break at The Kauphy Place. We ordered plain naan, cheese naan and chicken tikka masala. I like their chicken tikka. It's a curry dish made with boneless chicken in a spiced sauce. The dish is very flavourful and not too spicy.

Total bill - $ 43.50

Leo and Carmen brought us to The Continental European Bar & Bistro for dinner. The restaurant has a nice ambience and not overcrowded. We ordered fried calamari, Berliner curry sausage and oven roasted pork ribs. Berliner curry sausage is made from pork served with chili curry sauce and chips. Their oven roasted pork ribs is marinated with BBQ rib sauce served with coleslaw and chips. Fried calamari is a bit oily but the chips are perfectly crisp. Leo ordered one pint of Guinness with a slightly bitter flavour that taste like Chinese medicine to me. Half hour before closing, they started cleaning up. So I gobbled down my dinner and we left shortly after that...
