Taiwan - Day 8 (Linkou - Taoyuan)

Alan's dad invited us for lunch and we're so stuffed with the amount of dishes he ordered. He fetched us to Goodday Restaurant located in Linkou. Uncle Xie and wife joined us for lunch as well. My favourite dish from this restaurant is the Taiwan style kimbap. Rice is perfectly cooked, soft, chewy and flavourful. Apart from that, I love the salt roasted prawns too. It's fresh and succulent with a hint of saltiness. End of our meal, Alan and Ben gave my partner a surprise birthday cake! Even though we're so full there's always room for dessert. The fruit cake is really good. It's moist and not too sweet.

After lunch, we went back to our hotel and took a rest since we slept at 5am this morning. Ben came and fetched us for dinner around 7pm. There's only eight of us and Alan ordered eleven dishes! Again, we are so full after our dinner. Youtiao (Chinese cruller) stuffed with meat is delicious. Crispy on the outside and very flavourful. I'm not a big fan of oyster and chives but surprisingly it's good. Chives have a crunchy texture and oysters are fresh. Pork belly with yam is very flavourful but pork taste is very strong. Overall, we had a wonderful dinner.

Total bill - NT$ 4,360

At night, we went to Alan's parent's house for drinking session again. Instead of drinking The Glenlivet single malt scotch whisky, we tried Kinmen Kaoliang liquor. The taste is smooth, pure and delicately sweet. It's a strong liquor (58%) and it's best to drink it straight. Half way through our drinking session, Ben went out secretly and came back with a packet of Taiwan sausages for my partner. That sausages are basically one of my partner's favourite! I'm pretty sure my partner was very touched by Ben's action that night.
