Taiwan - Day 9 (Taoyuan - Mitsui Outlet Park Linkou - Linkou Night Market)

Alan and family brought us to this hot pot shop "火鍋世家長庚店" approximately 10 minutes drive from Chang Gung Hostel for brunch. There's 8 types of pot broth for you to choose from including the basic broth, tomato, kimchi, miso, peeling chili pepper, heshouwu (Chinese herbal soup), hot & spicy and Chinese pickled cabbage broth. This restaurant offers individual hot pots with free flow of drinks and ice cream. I like their sliced beef and corn. Beef is tender and juicy. Whereas for the corn, it's crisp, juicy and sweet. One of the best corn on the cob that I've eaten.

Total bill - NT$ 2,360

We shop at Mitsui Outlet Park Linkou from 1.30pm till 5pm and bought a cup of black tea latte with grass jelly from Hanlin Tea Hot Pot. In terms of flavour, it's not too sweet and I can't taste most of the tannins. Some milk tea gave me palpitations but not this one. While strolling around, we spotted this Pokemon arcade game. There's a long queue and it attracts not only young but young at heart as well!

Six years ago Alan brought us to this restaurant and back then I have no idea what's the name of this restaurant. Finally we are back again and this restaurant "帝王食補 龜山華亞店" is just 2 minutes walking distance (120m) from "火鍋世家長庚店" the place we had our brunch earlier.

This restaurant serves "Jiang Mu Ya" (ginger duck hot pot) a popular dish that Taiwanese eat during cold weather. Since the weather is getting warmer, the restaurant is quite empty. Soup is a bit greasy but I still enjoy the food here especially their flour vermicelli noodles or also known as mee suah in Hokkien. Love the corn too. It's juicy and sweet. Overall we enjoy our dinner very much.

Since it's our last night here in Linkou, I decided to visit their night market. Four of us took an Uber (Uber fare - NT$ 191) to Linkou Night Market approximately 15 minutes ride (5km) from our dinner place. This night market is quite small and it takes us less than 30 minutes to finish exploring the market. I found my favourite fried quail eggs but it's not as good as the one I had at Fengjia Night Market. My partner bought a packet of guava which is sweet with a crunchy texture. Jon bought me a cup of milk with grass jelly. I went with no sugar and regretted it.

Note: NT$ 1 = RM 0.14
