Song He Motel - Taiwan

Song He Motel is approximately 30 minutes drive (21km) from CitizenM Taipei North Gate. Our friend booked this place for us and paid for the room as well for two nights. Thanks again buddy! Supposed, he wanted to booked five nights at Chang Gung Hostel but the hostel is fully booked for the first two nights.

Room rate includes breakfast for 2 person and breakfast start from 7am to 9.30am. Our room comes with a double bed, couch, dressing table, wall mounted TV (with 40 over channels and 2 adult channels), self controlled air conditioning/heater, 2 complimentary bottles of drinking water, coffee or tea making facilities, slippers, complimentary snacks, can drinks, in-room safe, complimentary WiFi (good internet speed), hair dryer and complete toiletries. There's no working desk and my partner has to use the coffee table as the work desk. Each room comes with a private parking as well. Our room is on the 1st floor and you will need to carry your luggage up/down the narrow stairs.

Room is very spacious but looks old with musty smell. There's stains on the wallpapers and some area started to peel off. They only provide two pillows and the bed has this bouncy feel. Apart from that, blanket doesn't smell pleasant. Bathroom is very spacious but there's no lock for the bathroom door. Bathroom design looks old with a jacuzzi tub which is not sparkling clean. Shower is separated from the toilet area with it's own transparent cubicle. Water pressure is good but there's inconsistency in hot water temperature.

They only provide two small packets of shower gel and there' no proper place for you to put your toiletries in the shower area. Besides that, there's no place for you to hang your towel or clothes in the bathroom. Bathroom vanity is too low and puts a lot of pressure on my lower back when brushing my teeth or washing my face.

That evening I heard rats squeaking, fighting and running in the ceiling. After we came back from dinner, one of our friend who stayed next room told us that the rats actually ate their biscuits. No wonder those complimentary biscuits are kept in the fridge instead of the drawer. When we informed the staff the next day, their expression was... oh... you must have left your biscuits or food unattended. Basically they already know the problem but no action was taken. It was indeed an unpleasant stay and just like any other motels in Taoyuan, you need to leave your room key with the receptionist on your way out.
