Bangkok, Thailand - Day 4 (Bangkok Art and Culture Centre - Icon Siam - Indy Market)
On our fourth day in Bangkok, we decided to sleep in and have our brunch at Pu Tie Shrimp Wonton Noodles, which is located on the second floor of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre. The center is about a 3-minute walk (240) from Krit Thai Residence. We ordered a bowl of noodles with shrimp wonton and red pork soup. The soup is really flavourful, and the noodles have exactly the right texture. Besides that, the red pork meat is lean and tender. I am not a fan of wontons, but theirs are good. It consists of pork meat and shrimp. Overall, we enjoy our brunch very much.

We spotted a shop next to Pu Tie Shrimp Wonton Noodles that served crispy pork. We were both tempted to try it and ordered a plate of rice topped with stir-fried crispy pork, salt and chili. In addition, we add a fried egg. The rice is served with complimentary iced jasmine tea and miso soup. The pork is crispy and flavourful. The chili is sweet and sour, which works well with the crispy pork. There's slight sweetness in the jasmine tea, but it's refreshing. Overall, the food tastes delicious. I'm glad we tried it.

After brunch, we walked around the art centre. From level 7 to 9, you are not allowed to carry in your bag and must store it in their locker. Since it's inconvenient to carry my personal belongings without a bag, my partner helped me to take care of it while I went up alone. The centre includes cafes, bookshops, craft shops and an art library. Admission is free of charge.

My partner loves basil minced pork, so we took the BTS from National Stadium Station to Krung Thon Buri Station (THB 47 per person) and walked to This is Basil. The shop is quite small and there's only one table of diners who are almost finished with their lunch. We had rice topped with stir-fried pork and basil. On top of it, we add a fried egg and additional meat.
The waitress recommended that we choose between mild and spicy levels. There are four levels of spiciness: mild, spicy, very spicy and hell spicy. The dish turned out to be quite spicy for us, but it's very flavourful with the exception of some tendons inside the meat. The rice is fluffy and soft. We ordered a bottle of drinking water; however, there was no ice. Overall, my partner is pleased with the lunch.

Icon Siam is within a 7-minute walk (450m) from This is Basil. This is Bangkok's most impressive shopping centre, located near the Chao Phraya River. I still can't get enough of Yenly Yours' mango sticky rice, so we decided to have it again at Icon Siam.

We met up with my partner's friend at Icon Siam and shared a taxi to Somsakpuob for dinner (Taxi fare - THB 250). When we arrived, the shop had already closed. Luckily there's a branch nearby, so we went there instead. This restaurant is well-known for its crab roe glass noodles and is a must-visit for Wilson when visiting Bangkok.
We ordered crab glass noodles, crab roe glass noodles and prawn glass noodles. The glass noodles are very flavourful. I prefer the glass noodles cooked with the crab with roe. The chili is spicy and best eaten with the crabs. It appears that three pots of glass noodles are insufficient for the five of us. We ended up ordering one more prawn glass noodle and crab roe with glass noodles. The price of the crab depends on its size. The restaurant only accepts cash as payment.

After dinner, we took a Grab ride to Indy Market (Grab fare - THB 320). The market is average in size and less busy. There are stalls selling clothing, accessories, food and beverages. We spotted a barber stall as well. There is also a bar, pub and pet shop on the market's side. We spent some time chilling there and drinking coconut water.

My partner was craving the mama tom yum seafood from Jeh O Chula. In order to satisfy his craving, we took a Grab ride from Indy Market to Jeh O Chula (Grab fare - THB 300). When we arrived, it was almost 11pm. The queue was short and while waiting in the queue, Yuan went and bought the toasted bread from Nueng Nom Nua (Banthat Thong). When we finally got a table and ordered their signature mama tom yum seafood, they had run out of roasted pork. However, even without the roasted pork, the dish still tastes good.

If you dine at Jeh O Chula, you won't miss out on Nueng Nom Nua (Banthat Thong). The shop features a large sign of a boy serving bread, and there is consistently a line. It is known for its skewered diced bread. The bread is toasted till golden brown and served with three types of dipping sauce: salted egg yolk custard, pandan with coconut milk custard and Hokkaido milk cream. Overall, it's quite tasty, as the bread is crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. Out of the three dipping sauces, I prefer their Hokkaido milk cream.
