Kuantan, Pahang - Food Hunting Trip (Day I)

I just love cuti-cuti Malaysia and this time we have decided to visit Kuantan, Pahang. The journey took us 3 hours to get to Kuantan from Petaling Jaya. We reached Kuantan around 1.30pm and stopped at New Capitol Chicken Rice for our lunch. When we arrived the restaurant was quite empty. The staff was very friendly and the service was good! Before we managed to find a place to sit, the staff already followed us with 2 plates of chicken rice.

The chicken rice was a bit hard, not to my liking. However the wild boar rendang was delicious. The  meat was tender and the level of spiciness is just right for me. Beside that, both the braised and steamed chicken were juicy and tender. Since I was too obsessed with the wild boar rendang, I totally forgot to try the chilli sauce. The meal cost us RM14.80 including drinks and rice.

Cendol is a popular dessert in Malaysia and who can resist a bowl of icy cold cendol on a hot day! We ordered a bowl of original cendol came with shaved ice, coconut milk and palm sugar. Yummy! They have cendol pulut, cendol campur, cendol kacang and ABC as well.

Next, we decided to try out the toast and kaya at Restaurant Meng Fang. Heard that this kopitiam is an old favourite in Kuantan. There are 2 types of toast - the sliced bread or buns. We ordered both! The kaya was creamy and not too sweet but I don't really like the texture of the bread. The texture was abit too hard and dry.

We spent an hour wondering around Cherating looking for a place to stay and we ended up at Legend Resort. To find out more about the resort click here.

Since we were quite lazy to drive all the way to town, we had our dinner nearby the resort at this Restoran Peninsular Seafood. The restaurant is just beside the roadside before turning into the Resort. The food was so-so and we waited for almost 20 minutes eventhough the restaurant was quite empty.
