1 day Fremantle, Cottesloe, Swanbourne, Kings Park self tour - Perth, Western Australia

I just realized that I have yet to post out this blog. It was back in the summer when we were in Perth, hot and dry with temperature over 40'C at times...

We started off the day with a delicious breakfast at Hungry Jacks, Australian franchisee of Burger King Corporation. I just love the whopper. The sesame seed bun was soft and the flame grilled beef was juicy and tender. The whopper came with mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup and sliced onion.

We drove our way to Fremantle and take a stroll at the Esplanade Park and fishing boat harbour. Since it was Monday and was not a public holiday, we were unable to visit the Fremantle Market & E Shed Markets which open only from Friday ~ Sunday.

We had our lunch at Cicerello which is one of the famous Fish n Chips in Perth. You will be given an instrument after you have purchased your order. So when it beeps, go to the counter to collect your orders. We waited less than 10 minutes and our food was ready. Overall the fish and chips were ok. However you need to purchase the sauce as there's no such thing as free chili, tomato or tartar sauce here.

After lunch, we continued our journey to Cottesloe and Swanbourne beach. The weather was hot and the sky was blue. We saw a lot of people sunbathing on the beach. Swanbourne beach is also well known for having the only nudist beach in Perth. We were hoping to spot a few but sadly we saw none.

We continued our journey to Synergy Parkland in Kings Park. The Park was huge and great place for picnic and family outings. Bikes, scooters, skateboards and roller blades are not permitted in the Parkland for the safety of all visitors. Feeding birds and other wildlife is not permitted as well.

Gija Jumulu or Boab tree was originally from Telegraph Creek, near Warmun northern Western Australia. After travelling for 3200km, this 750 years old (estimated) boab tree was planted on 20th July 2008. This was the longest land journey of a tree of this size in history. The wounds on the boab trunk are from tissue damage that occurred during its journey to Kings Park that lead to decay. The tree's natural healing processes are at work and eventually the wounds will be completely healed.

We were famished by the end of the day and we had Red Rooster for our dinner. We have totally forgotten to take photos of the food and decided to snap the left over of our dinner instead. :)

Left only the chicken bones and fries
