Kedai Makanan Seng Huat (Bak kut teh) - Klang

Kedai Makanan Seng Huat or well known as "under the bridge bak kut teh" is one of the popular restaurant in Klang serving bak kut teh since 1979. Bak kut teh consists of pork ribs simmered in a broth of soy sauce, chinese herbs and spices such as cinnamon, ginseng, star anise, wolfberries, chinese foxglove and dried orange peel for hours. Bak kut teh normally served with rice and side dishes such as "yau char kwai" (golden-brown deep fried dough), vegetables, tofu and fried tofu puffs.

This restaurant served either individual bowl of bak kut teh with your preferred cut of meat or the claypot style which consists of meat, tofu, vegetables, beancurd and mushrooms. We ordered 2 individual bowl of small bones, 1 plate of yau char kwai, 1 bowl of tofu and fried tofu puffs and 3 plates of rice. The meal cost us RM26 excluding the tea leaves that we brought in for our beverages. By the way, it is very common for customer to bring their own tea leaves. Normally chinese tea will be served along with bak kut teh in the belief that it will dissolves fat consumed in this pork dish.

I like to soak my rice with the bak kut teh soup. However I find the rice a bit hard, not to my liking. I like the soup as I prefer a less herbal tasting soup. The small bone meat was soft and tender, just nice to dip into the cilli padi soy sauce. The restaurant will be very crowded in the morning especially during weekend. Be prepared to queue for your food.
