Hong Kong - Day 7 (Final Day)

The temperature was getting warmer, reaching 22℃, on our last day in Hong Kong. We checked out of Prudential Hotel around 12pm, and left our luggage at the reception area since our flight back to Kota Kinabalu was at night. We walked to Yung Kee Roast Goose Restaurant, which is just a 9-minute walk (600m) from Prudential Hotel. We came here last year after visiting Ocean Park to eat their roasted pork belly, goose leg, and Chinese BBQ pork (char siew). This time, my partner ordered the suckling pig while I had the combination of roasted pork belly and roasted goose. The suckling pig was crispy and slightly sweet. The roasted pork belly still tasted as good as it used to, and it paired perfectly with the hot mustard sauce. However, the roasted goose tasted just okay for me. The milk tea was smooth and creamy, but the milk flavour was rather overpowering. The restaurant was packed and noisy since it was lunchtime.

We walked along Jordan Road and ended up at 2 Good Bakery. The small coffee shop was managed solely by one employee. The shop was cozy, pleasant, and a great place to relax. We ordered chocolate mousse cake and a croffle with ice cream. The chocolate mousse cake was dry but not overly sweet. We almost cancelled the croffle order since we had to wait quite a while for it, as the worker was busy preparing coffee and meals for other customers. We're glad we waited because the croffle was delicious. It was crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The ice cream was creamy and nice. The croffle was served with strawberry (not very sour), blueberry, and grapes.

We returned to our hotel at 2pm and collected our luggage before walking to the Temple Street bus station to catch the Cityflyer A22 bus (HKD 40.80 per person) to Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA). Due to traffic congestion, the journey took approximately one hour, and we arrived at HKIA around 3.45pm. There was no self-check-in kiosk for our Air Asia flight, so we had to check in at the counter. The process was fast and smooth.

We entered the departure hall at 4.30pm. The immigration checkpoint was fully automated, using facial recognition for identity verification. However, my partner had trouble using the machine and had to go through the manual immigration process instead.

Since we had plenty of time before our flight at 8.40pm, we walked to McDonald's. I had McNuggets, and my partner had a Shogun burger. Still feeling hungry, he also had a plate of spring onion pork chop and fried egg with rice from Meng Wah Bing Teng. The set came with hot milk tea, which tasted a bit bitter for me.

We took the Automated People Mover (APM) to gate 205. Our flight was on time and began boarding at 8.10pm. Passport verification during boarding was not required. We just showed our boarding pass, went through facial recognition, and the machine showed our seat numbers. The flight was quite empty, but we were seated three in a row. Our flight landed at Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) at 11.30pm.

Overall, we had a wonderful trip to Hokkaido and Hong Kong. The unforgettable fluffy snow in Hokkaido was truly a highlight of our trip. Walking through the snowy streets felt peaceful and enchanting, as if time slowed down. It's a memory that will stay with us long after the trip ended.
