New Otani Inn Sapporo - Hokkaido

The New Otani Inn Sapporo is located between Sapporo Station (100m) and Odori Station (300m). This hotel's surroundings are less busy than the Susukino district, yet it is within walking distance of the Sapporo TV Tower (450m) and Odori Park (500m). The check-in process is quick and straightforward. They will require our passports for registration.

We stayed four nights in a twin room that comes with a twin bed, a TV with limited channels, a working desk, a mini fridge, a torchlight, an air humidifier, a hair dryer, an electric kettle, two pairs of disposable slippers, complimentary Wi-Fi, basic toiletries, a smart toilet with heated seat, a yukata, fabric freshener sprays, a shoehorn and a shoe brush. There is no in-room safe and no drinking water in the room. Generally, tap water is safe to drink. The air conditioner has been turned off, and you may only turn on the humidifier. The room feels stuffy at night, and it wasn't until the third day that we realized we could open the window to let in some fresh air.

The hotel does not provide room cleaning service during consecutive stays. Instant in-room amenities are available on the first floor in the lobby. If you stay for two nights in a row, no room cleaning service will be performed on the second night. Long-term stays will have their rooms cleaned every two days beginning on the third day. If you want your towels replaced and your garbage bin emptied, please place the magnetic stickers provided outside your room by 1pm.

Amenities to be picked up on first floor in the lobby - toothbrush, razor, hair brush, shower ball, cotton swab, shower cap and tea powder.

Amenities continue to be prepared in your rooms - bath towel, face towel, bath mat, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, slippers and nightwear.

The room is clean, spacious and well-maintained. However, they only provide one pillow per bed, along with an additional pillow. When we requested at the front desk for an extra pillow, they declined. Fortunately, the next day, another employee was more friendly and offered us one. The bathroom has a clean bathtub, but the toilet bowl is not particularly clean, with black stains surrounding it. The water pressure is excellent, and the water is very hot. Only a curtain separates the shower and toilet area. As a result, water tends to splash out and wet the floor around the toilet.

Self-service laundry is available on the third floor. There are two washing machines and two dryers. You will have to pay ¥400 for washing (max 5 kg) and ¥100 for 30 minutes of drying. However, garments remained moist after 30 minutes of drying. Even after two hours of drying, the clothing had not completely dried. There is no gym and to access the room floor via lift, a room key card is required.
