Yumoto Niseko Prince Hotel Hirafutei - Niseko Hirafu, Hokkaido

Yumoto Niseko Prince Hotel Hirafutei is located in central Hirafu upper village, just a 6-minute walk (400m) from the Hirafu Welcome Center. The hotel's location is fantastic, with easy access to the ski slopes and stunning mountain views. We were supposed to stay two nights, but I decided to stay one because there isn't much else to do but ski.

The hotel only allows check-in at 3pm. The process was a little slow because according to their records, we booked two nights. However, we had already cancelled one of the nights through the booking website, and it was not shown in their system. I'm glad they were eventually able to resolve the situation. As part of the check-in process, we must present them our passport for registration. After checking in, we must pay ¥1,060 (onsen and accommodation tax) at the automated payment device. I was so blurred that I put in ¥100 in the receipt slot and couldn't retrieve it back. The hotel staff came, but they were unable to assist us in returning the money.

There are just six floors. The dining area and ski locker room are located on the first floor. Whereas the reception desk, souvenir shop, self-service laundry bar, relaxation salon (open from 3pm to 12am) and public bath (open from 3pm to the next morning at 10.30am) are located on the third floor. The guest floors are located on the second, fourth and sixth floors. To reach the room floor via lift, a room key card is not necessary. The hotel also provides free onsen or public baths for its guests. There are separate onsens for men and women, and no clothing or swimsuits are permitted in the bathing area.

We just love our room even though it is slightly dim. It's spacious, clean and comfortable, with traditional Japanese touches that enhance the overall experience. The bed is comfy and comes with four pillows. Our room's window looks right at the Niseko Tokyu Grand Hirafu. The view was spectacular, but it gets a little noisy in the morning when there is an announcement for skiers.

Just like every other hotel in Sapporo, the cleaning lady only cleans rooms for guests who stay for four nights or more. They will inform you of the cleaning date when you check in. On other days, you are required to leave your garbage in a bag in the hallway (in front of your room) by 12pm. Towels can be changed at any time, but used towels must be returned to the changing room's return box.

The room comes with a humidifier that also serves as a heater, air conditioning with individual temperature control, complimentary Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV with limited channels, two futon beds, coffee or tea-making facilities, an in-room safe, a mini fridge, a hair dryer, a pair of bathroom slippers, a smart toilet with heated seat, two pairs of room slippers, a shoehorn, a yukata and complimentary green tea mochi. The hotel room does not provide any complimentary drinking water.

The bathroom is rather small and comes with a bathtub that isn't very clean. The water pressure is excellent, and the water is hot enough. They offer Kose products such as natural skin lotion, natural milk lotion, men's hair liquid, medicated hair tonic and medicated after-shaving lotion. Everything was there except for the shower cap.

Guests must return the room key to the automatic accounting machine when they check out. Lost or damaged room keys incur a fee of ¥1,000. Overall, we had a pleasant stay here.
