Sutera Mantanani - Kota Belud, Sabah
Sutera Mantanani (previously known as Viva Mantanani Resort) is located in Big Mantanani Island approximately 30 minutes to 45 minutes (depending on the sea condition) speedboat ride from Rampayan Jetty. The jetty is located in Kota Belud, 90 minutes drive from Kota Kinabalu City. We booked a 3 days 2 nights package (RM 1,040 for 2 persons in a deluxe room) includes land, boat transfer and full board meals. This package is exclusive for Malaysians and Permanent Residents (with my PR card) only. You can choose a 2 days 1 night package as well at the price of RM 520 for 2 persons in a deluxe room.
Initially we wanted to stay in a beach chalet (there's private balcony and beach is just 10 steps away from your main door) but it was fully booked. So we ended up with a deluxe room. Our room comes with 2 single beds, flat screen TV with limited channels, in-room safe (you need to request the key from the hotel staff), mini fridge, disposable slippers, basic toiletries, hairdryer, 2 complimentary bottles of drinking water, coffee or tea making facilities, couch, writing desk, plug in mosquito repellent, fan, self controlled air conditioning, standing rain shower and an extra foldable bed. Free Wi-Fi is only available at the lobby. The package comes with complimentary snorkeling, kayaking, kite flying, board games, fishing village tour, sunset walk and stargazing.
There's a private balcony for our deluxe room and beach is not that far out. Our room is spacious but condition is a bit old. Same goes to the bathroom. Towel bars were rusty, stained toilet bowl and very low hot water pressure. Apart from that, they only provide hair conditioner and shampoo but there's no shower gel. Luckily they do provide a soap bar. However, soap bar holder was rusty and worn off. On our 2nd day, they did not provide any toilet roll after housekeeping. We requested from the hotel staff and they just provide us facial tissue paper. I guess they ran out of toilet roll. Overall it wasn't a very pleasant stay. What I love most is the beautiful sea with crystal clear water, sunset and breathtaking night sky.
