Mantanani Island, Sabah - Day 2
Day 2 in Mantanani Island is all about chill and relax. Buffet breakfast starts from 8am to 10am and we had our breakfast at 9am. Simple buffet breakfast to boost our energy in the morning. After breakfast we hang out by the beach. The most relaxing way is lying on the hammock listening to the sound of waves crashing on the beach and the sea breeze gently blowing you...
There's a snorkeling session at 11.30am and we decided to tag along. The boat was so full that we have to stand. Luckily all of us were given a life jacket. Me and Shyan chose to stay on the boat. It was fun seeing them snorkeled and I brought some bread to feed the fish. The staff told us that the fishes love cooked rice. Too bad we don't have any.
We came back at 1pm and had our buffet lunch. Lunch was good. There's beef, duck, prawns, steamed eggs, vegetables, fruits and dessert. The cakes a little too sweet for my liking. After lunch we continued to chill by the beach side. My partner booked a 30 minutes ATV ride (RM 50 per person) for Shyan and Leo. They only have two ATVs and only 1 person is allowed on the vehicle. We waited for them to come back from the ATV village tour and joined us for tea break at 3.30pm. Tea break was good. I just love their sweet soup. This time they served sweet corn and sago dessert. In Malay you called it "bubur jagung". It's creamy and most importantly it's not too sweet.
All of us gathered at the resort lobby at 5.30pm and followed the sunset tour. One of the resort staff brought us to a jetty, one of the best spot to take sunset photos. Along the way we passed by the village and saw some of them selling fresh seafood such as lobster, sea cucumber and fish. You can actually purchased the seafood and request the resort chef to cook for you at a certain price.
Finally we saw the beautiful sun that looks like an egg yolk sets into the horizon. Our guide just left us there and we have to walk back to our resort on our own. Luckily we managed to find our way through the village road. At a point, we almost got lost because the people in front followed the wrong group of people who's staying in a different resort! Glad that we made it on time for dinner at 7pm. I had chicken chop comes with vegetables and fries while my partner had steak. It's good. Our dinner comes with a bowl of soup and fruits as well.
We followed the blue tears tour again at 8.30pm since we couldn't see it last night. We need to walk quite far away from the resort so that there's no light pollution. Everyone needs to turn off their torches and this time we saw a few. Some is so bright and blue. Apart from that, the sky was so clear and full of stars. We were told that the best month to see the blue tears is in March.
