Sheraton - Kuching, Sarawak

The Sheraton Kuching is a new hotel in Kuching that had its grand opening in February 2024. My partner booked a 5-day, 4-night stay at this hotel through Agoda. The hotel is located in the city center, just 2 minutes (140m) walking distance from the cat statue. We stayed in a superior room that comes with a king-size bed, a TV with limited Astro channels, an in-room safe, a mini fridge, four complimentary bottles of drinking water, coffee or tea making facilities, an iron, an ironing board, two bathrobes, a hair dryer, two pairs of disposable slippers, a working desk, a 2-seater sofa, air conditioning with individual temperature control, complimentary Wi-Fi and toiletries.

The room is spacious and clean, but the bathroom is rather small. Although the room is quite gloomy, the bed is comfortable and comes with four pillows. We could not view the Astro channels at night, so we contacted the front desk. They immediately sent over a technician, and after a reset, everything worked well. The service was top-notch. However, during daily housekeeping, they did not replenish the tea and coffee. On the third day, they ran out of fresh large towels and hung back the towel we had left on the sink. Apart from that, they do not provide a hand towel, as they did on our initial day of check-in. When I approached the housekeeper, he informed me that their management team is aware of the towel issue, but no action has been taken. It's a little disappointing that a towel problem occurred when staying at a five-star hotel.

The shower is separated from the toilet area with its own transparent cubicle. The water pressure is good and the water is hot enough. However, the shower hose is leaking. but we are glad that it was fixed during housekeeping right after we informed the front desk. They have this DND (do not disturb) button on the wall next to the door, but it was put there reversibly. I couldn't tell if I had the DND button on or off.

The hotel's facilities include a fitness centre, a kid's club and a swimming pool. The facilities are located on the 23rd floor. A key card is required to access the lift and facilities. Car park (level B1/B2) and hotel rooms sharing the same lifts. Finding the hotel's parking entrance is challenging because there isn't enough signage for it. The parking lot is behind the hotel. Once you see Maybank, turn left. The hotel charges RM 10 for multiple entries per day. The standard parking rate is RM 8 per entrance per day.
