Kuching, Sarawak (II) - Day 5 (Kuching Town)

On the day before we left Kuching, we had our brunch at Noodle Descendants. The shop is a 7-minute (500m) walk from the Sheraton hotel. We waited over twenty minutes for a table. What a coincidence that we sat at the same table as we did two years ago. As usual, my partner ordered a glass of teh c ping without sugar, which is good. It's thick, creamy and smooth. Then, we have to wait for the lady to ask for our order. We ordered two bowls of noodles and a bowl of mixed pork soup. We waited another hour for our meal to come. Overall, it's good except for the bbq pork, which is a bit tough and dry for my liking. After our lunch, we walked back to our hotel and checked out at 1.30pm.

We decided to chill at Madeleine Cafè, as we still had two hours before returning our Trevo car to the owner at the airport. I ordered a pot of Oriental Jasmine Green and a slice of royal chocolate cake. The cake has a sour aftertaste but is not overly sweet. It's made with Valrhona mousse, chocolate bavarois and creme brulee. The cake was soft and smooth, but I find it expensive for such a small slice of cake.

You can choose from eight different kinds of tea, but I regret choosing Oriental Jasmine Green because it has a "fishy" aroma that I don't really like. If you order tea by pot, you will receive one free refill. Additional refills will cost RM 1 each. The cafe has a pleasant atmosphere, and the English music selection is excellent.

Total bill - RM 54.05 (including 6% sales and service tax)

We returned our Trevo car around 4pm. A gentleman came and picked up the car from us at the departure area. Our flight (Firefly) was delayed from 6.05pm to 6.50pm, so we had plenty of time at the airport. My partner bought a cold chicken sandwich, which was tasty. The whole wheat bread has a chewy, soft texture. The sandwich contains fresh lettuce, cucumber, cheese, and chicken ham. My partner, on the other hand, doesn't enjoy it as much as I do. Boarding begins at 6.15pm and our flight departs on schedule at 6.50pm. Finally, we arrived at Kota Kinabalu International Airport around 8.05pm. If we were to summarize our eating journey in Kuching, I believe Kota Kinabalu's food tastes far superior to Kuching's.
