Shangri-La Hotel - Shenzhen, China

Situated in the heart of Luohu's commercial center, Shangri-La Shenzhen is only a short stroll of 50m from Luohu Metro Station and 300m from Shenzhen Railway Station. Once you step out of the Shenzhen train station (B1F), turn left and go toward Jianshe Rd. Proceed into the tunnel and stay to the right. As soon as you emerge from the tunnel, there's an escalator. You will find the hotel to your right. The hotel allows us to check in early at 11.30am. We were requested to make an advance deposit of ¥ 1,545 and upon check-out, they reimbursed the deposit. However, Alipay incurs a ¥ 45 fee.

We stayed three nights in a deluxe room with a king-size bed, in-room safe, mini fridge, a wall-mounted TV (fuzzy TV with 42 channels), a working desk, a hair dryer, an umbrella, a bathrobe, two pairs of disposable slippers, coffee or tea making facilities, a couch, air conditioning with individual temperature control, two complimentary bottles of drinking water, complimentary Wi-Fi and toiletries.

The room is spacious and well-kept, but the design feels old. The wall between the two rooms is not very thick and the TV in the next room can be heard. The bed is comfy and comes with four pillows. Our hotel room has a view of the pool and cityscape. Internet speed is good and capable of loading WhatsApp. The bathroom is spacious too and has a bathtub. There is a shower curtain that separates the bathtub and toilet area. However, water tends to seep out during showers and flood the bathroom floor. The water pressure is good and the water is hot enough.

The hotel has a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, massage and fitness center at level 5. The elevator to the room floor requires the room key card. Overall, it's a lovely stay and most significantly, the location is fantastic.
