Guangzhou Laison Hotel - Guangzhou, China

Guangzhou Laison Hotel is within walking distance from gate no. 4 exit of Guangzhou East Railway Station. After exiting gate no. 4, turn right and walk for less than two minutes, the hotel is just across. Please do not use Google Maps as the directions are inaccurate for the hotel location. We chose to stay at this hotel because of its convenient location between the train and the metro station for Guangzhou East Railway Station. My partner booked through trip.com, and they gave us an early check-in at 12pm.

We stayed three nights in a standard queen room, which had a queen-size bed, a wall-mounted TV with a selection of Chinese channels, a working desk, air conditioning with individual temperature control in Chinese characters, two pairs of disposable slippers, a wall-mounted hairdryer, two complimentary bottles of drinking water, two packets of soy milk, two small packets of blueberry biscuits, coffee or tea making facilities, complimentary Wi-Fi and toiletries. The hotel does not provide mini fridges or in-room safes. We require a power plug adapter since we use type G electrical plugs. Although I constantly have static electricity in my body, this is the first time I get static shock when flipping on the light switch.

The room is spacious and clean. However, the bed is very hard and the hotel provides only two pillows. Apart from that, the room smelled like cigarettes, and there was one mosquito that kept me up at night. It make sense now why they give us insect repellant. The shower area has a glass cubicle that separates it from the toilet but after showering, water seeps out because the door won't shut completely. When wet, the bathroom floor is very slippery. The shower is hot but the water pressure is normal. Besides that, the toilet sink drains slowly. The bathroom wall is partially translucent and the room curtain is not completely blacked out. So, the room is pretty bright in the morning.

The internet connection is poor, especially when attempting to use WhatsApp. The staff is really helpful. They came to our room around 11.30pm to assist us with setup. According to them, there were other guests experiencing the same problem. She eventually can't help us with the bad connection. The hotel provides daily housekeeping services and replenishes our drinking water and snacks. I like their soy milk since it's not overly sweet. The blueberry biscuits are nice as well but there're a little too sweet for my taste. Hotel facilities include a small fitness center and laundry room (only two washing machines and no dryer) on level 3. The elevator to the room floor requires the room key card. The hotel also provides a free shuttle that leaves at 8am and returns at 6pm to the Pazhou Exhibition Hall Northeast parking lot.
