Paco Hotel (Shenzhen Luohu Port Branch) - Shenzhen

Paco Hotel is located in the Luohu District of Shenzhen, just next to Shenzhen train station and Luohu metro line 1. Once you step out of the Shenzhen train station (B1F), head toward Heping Rd on the left. Proceed into the tunnel and stay to the left. As soon as you emerge from the tunnel, turn right. The hotel is directly ahead. When you get out of the tunnel, there are a few stairs you must climb. Thus, it will be difficult to transport large bags.

The check-in procedure is quick and easy. One of the hotel lifts has been in maintenance for about a month, and there is only one lift that does not require a room key card to access the room floor. Fortunately, the waiting period is not that long. We tried to use the stairs, but it did not lead to the hotel lobby.

We stayed two nights in a superior queen room, which had a double bed, a working desk, a wall-mounted smart TV with a selection of Chinese channels (all of the smart TV options are written in Chinese characters), air conditioning with individual temperature control, two pairs of room slippers, a hair dryer, two complimentary bottles of drinking water, coffee or tea making facilities, complimentary Wi-Fi and toiletries. The hotel does not provide mini-fridge or in-room safes. There are four settings available for the hotel lighting control: bright, read, warm and sleep. Apart from that, the hotel also features an open or close button for its curtains and uses type A sockets. The internet connection is poor for WhatsApp since China's government firewall most likely prevents access to the app.

The room is small, clean and modern looking. They provide four pillows, and the bed is comfortable. When we got into the room, the toilet door was locked. We called the cleaning lady, who claimed it was still open when she did housekeeping. She then assisted us in contacting maintenance and he arrived immediately. The toilet door is opened using the Allen key. It seems to have been locked from the inside. The bathroom is clean and the water pressure is good. Due to the tiny basin space, toiletries are placed outside. Apart from that, there is some translucency on the bathroom wall.

On level 6, the hotel offers free self-service laundry (two washing machines and two dryers) from 7.30am to 11pm daily. There is also free laundry detergent, softener and drinking water. Overall, it's not a pleasant stay because we can hear traffic, including taxis honking from our hotel room which faces the main road especially around 10.30pm.
