Sabah Hotel Sandakan is a 4 star hotel, 17 minutes drive (12km) from Sandakan Airport. We took a Grab ride from Sandakan Airport to Sabah Hotel Sandakan (Cost: RM 11) and stayed in a deluxe room that comes with a king size bed, in-room safe box, dressing table, wall mounted LCD TV (limited TV channels), iron & ironing board, hair dryer, mini fridge, coffee or tea making facilities, 2 complimentary bottles of drinking water, spacious bathroom with a bath tub and shower area, toiletries and self controlled air conditioning.

The hotel and room looks a bit old with an unpleasant musty smell. Even though our room is a non-smoking room, there's lingering smell of cigarette smoke in the room. It's a spacious room however our king size bed isn't comfortable (mattress is too firm) and the pillow looks old with stains. Apart from that, their too-soft pillows caused me to wake up in the morning with a stiff neck.

Bathroom is very spacious but the toilet bowl has nasty black and yellow stains. It's very unsightly and I didn't expect to see this in a 4 star hotel. Shower and toilet is separated with a glass door. Their shower head probably clogged as water is shooting out in all directions! Hence, taking a bath is very unpleasant not to mention there's inconsistency in hot water supply. The worst nightmare happens when there's sudden burst of pipping hot (or freezing cold) water when showering. Besides that, their bathroom sink isn't draining very well. The water does eventually drain out but it takes a long time...

Overall it was quite an unpleasant stay. However, we were glad that there's Covid-19 temperature screening upon entry to their hotel.

Our stay in  Kinabalu Pine Resort  comes with breakfast for 2 adults. Breakfast start from 7am to 10am. They only serve ala-carte breakfast and you need to pre-book it at The Pines Restaurant latest by 9.30pm for your next day's breakfast. There's Malay, Chinese, Western or kids breakfast set. Apart from that, there's free flow of Tenom coffee, Sabah tea, mango and orange juice. Hounon Ridge Farmstay & Camping - Kundasang, Sabah

Hounon Ridge Farmstay is located at Kampung Himbaan Bundu Tuhan, 36 minutes drive from Kundasang town. The road heading to Bundu Tuhan is very steep and narrow. There's no street light and driving at night can be hazardous if you are not familiar with the road condition. Be particularly alert when driving and watch out for cows, chickens and stray dogs on the side of the road. There's 4 types of room available. If you are the adventurous type and not afraid of cold, you can even camp outside Hounon Ridge Farmstay. Room type: a) Standard quad room b) Standard double room without balcony c) Standard double room with balcony d) Dormitory - 10 person e) Camping We stayed in a standard double room without balcony. Our room was on the 1st floor overlooking Mount Kinabalu. Great view and you can slide the glass window to get some fresh air.
