Lankayan Island Dive Resort - Sandakan, Sabah

Lankayan is a small island in the Sulu Sea. You can get there by taking a 1.5 hour speed boat ride from PSR Jetty (next to Sandakan Town post office). The only resort on the island is Lankayan Island Dive Resort. There's a permanent military base on the island as well. We booked a 3 days 2 nights stay at Lankayan Island Dive Resort @ RM 990 nett per pax (for Sabahan only; travel from 1st July 2020 to 30th Sept 2020). Package includes return boat transfer, 2 nights accommodations (beach chalet twin sharing basis), conservation fee, full board meals, light snacks and SIMCA (Sugud Islands Marine Conservation Area) fee. This rate is for vacation rate (non-diver rate) exclude snorkeling or diving and related equipment fee. Non diver will be free at leisure on the island for the whole day. You may go for swimming, snorkeling or ocean kayaking.

We stayed in a beach chalet twin sharing basis comes with a king size bed, in-room safe, mini fridge, slippers, drinking water, coffee or tea making facilities, couch, writing table, plug in mosquito repellent, fan, self controlled air conditioning and toiletries. There's a private balcony overlooking the white sandy beach. Our room is very spacious and clean. Bathroom comes with a bath tub and there's an open air outdoor shower as well. It feels great in the shower as the water pressure is high. However, the water heater runs out of hot water very quickly. Most of the times we have to bathe with cold water.

Comfy bed and pillows but the blanket is way too thin just like the bed linen. There's no TV in the chalet but they have a TV room at the central open building. Internet access is also available only at the resort's main building which opens daily from 8am to 11pm. Besides that, there's no mobile phone service as well. It's a good thing because sometimes it is important to relax without the presence of phones and TV. Guest will also have a chance to see turtles nesting and baby turtles released to the sea especially in season from June to September.

1) PSR Jetty to Lankayan Island - 10am
2) Lankayan Island to PRS Jetty - 7am

Dining table time served at the central open building:
a) Breakfast: 6.20am to 10.30am
b) Lunch: 12.30pm to 2pm
c) Tea break: 4pm to 5.30pm
d) Dinner: 7pm to 8.30pm

Our stay in  Kinabalu Pine Resort  comes with breakfast for 2 adults. Breakfast start from 7am to 10am. Jollibee is a Filipino multinational chain of fast food restaurants. On the day of arrival, we asked our friendly Grab driver what is the must-try food in Philippines and he mentioned Jollibee. So here we at Jollibee located inside Landmark Department Store just 4 minutes (250m) walking distance from  New World Makati Hotel . We ordered 2 pieces of chicken served with rice and drink. Rice is soft. Fried chicken is crispy, flavourful and tender. It comes together with a brown gravy which taste like KFC mashed potatoes gravy. Overall it's good. Hounon Ridge Farmstay & Camping - Kundasang, Sabah

Hounon Ridge Farmstay is located at Kampung Himbaan Bundu Tuhan, 36 minutes drive from Kundasang town. The road heading to Bundu Tuhan is very steep and narrow. There's no street light and driving at night can be hazardous if you are not familiar with the road condition. Be particularly alert when driving and watch out for cows, chickens and stray dogs on the side of the road. There's 4 types of room available. If you are the adventurous type and not afraid of cold, you can even camp outside Hounon Ridge Farmstay.
