Melbourne - Day 5 (Brighton beach - St Kilda beach - Crown Melbourne - MCEC - Eureka Skydeck - Lygon Street)
Chyme purposely baked us a banana cake the night before so that we can have it for breakfast the next day. I'm so touched and almost cried. Hahaha... okay okay... I'm just exaggerating. Even though it's not the best banana cake that I had, it's the thought that counts. :) She planned to bring us to Brighton beach and St Kilda beach since it's a Sunday. So we left home around 10am and by the time we reached Brighton beach it's almost 11am. Brighton beach is well know for its colourful beach boxes. Weather wasn't really promising that day and it rained while we're at Brighton beach.

St Kilda beach is just 10 minutes drive (6km) from Brighton beach. There's flea market every Sunday from 10am to 4pm (5pm daylight saving time) selling arts and crafts. Due to the gloomy weather, there's not many markets open that day. We walked to Acland Street, 7 minutes walk (600m) from St Kilda beach and had our lunch at Abbey Road Cafe. Each of us ordered our own mains and ended up my partner and I couldn't finish our food due to the huge portion. In order not to waste food, he asked to take away the spaghetti carbonara. I managed to finish my grilled chicken breast fillet but not the beer battered chips. Lunch was good. We enjoyed it very much.
We walked back to St Kilda beach and on the way, we dropped by Monarch Cake shop to get a piece of baby Kugel. This cake shop is famous for its chocolate kooglhoupf. It is made from yeast pastry and has soft melted chocolate swirled through the cake which looks like a marble cake. We decided to have it at night as dessert. We hang around St Kilda beach while Ryan happily playing with his kite. Lee told him that once the kite hit the ground, we will be going back. Ryan was trying so hard to keep the kite high but finally it hits the ground and it's time to go back...

Chyme dropped us at Crown Melbourne before they went back home. We walked around while waiting for Sze to join us for dinner. We brought her to the casino and it's her first time entering one as she just turned 21 this year. Both of us being stopped by the guard at the entrance and asked to show our ID. So I asked the guard do I look that young to him? He smiled and let me through. Basically I should be happy that Sze makes me look young :)

We walked over to Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) because I saw so many people dressing up as their favourite anime character. They have this two days Madman Anime Festival from 14th September to 15th September 2019. MCEC is just 2 minutes walking distance (110m) from Crown Casino. We then walked to Eureka Skydeck via Yarra Promenade which took us around 11 minutes (850m) from MCEC. Eureka Skydeck open everyday from 10am to 10pm (last entry 9.30pm) We decided not to go up due to the gloomy weather.

We took a tram to Lygon Street from Flinders Street and had our dinner at Tiamo. Dinner was good. We shared a medium size Zucca pizza (comes with mozzarella, roasted pumpkin, pine nuts and goat cheese), a plate of Osso Buco (slow cooked beef shank) and lastly a piece of tiramisu as our dessert. Love the tiramisu too...

Brunetti is just opposite Tiamo, a famous cake and pastries shop located at Lygon Street. Sze bought a few pastries back but we decided not to as we don't have much of an appetite. Pidapipo is just next to Tiamo. Some rate the best gelato in Melbourne. Sze had one scoop of hazelnut, nutella & biscotti which is good and creamy but a bit sweet for my liking. We just took a small bite of Sze's ice cream as both of us started having a bad cough. We took a tram back to Flinders Street Station before catching a train back to Ringwood. Chyme came and picked us up at the station. Suddenly both of us felt so sick that night and started having a really bad sore throat and cough. Sadly our plan to visit Great Ocean Road the next day had to be cancelled...
