Melbourne - Day 4 (Tesselaar Tulip Festival)
The Tesselaar Tulip Festival opens from mid September to mid October every year. This year they open from 10am to 5pm everyday between September 14th and October 13th. We happened to be in Melbourne that time and we went there on 14th September which is a Saturday. It's the first day and sadly there's not much tulips. Majority of the tulips aren't bloomed yet. So they gave us a free return visit but it's no use to us as we will be going back in few days time.
Chyme drove us to Tessalaar Tulip farm together with Ryan and my partner's cousin Sze. Coincidence she's here in Melbourne for a student exchange program. She met us at the nearest train station at 10am. The journey took us around half an hour from Chyme's place to Tessalaar Tulip farm. We spent around 4 hours and had our lunch there. We had soft serve ice cream, potato twister, lemonade, Gozleme (a traditional savory Turkish flatbread), scones and sandwiches. There's 3 types of soft serve ice cream flavours for you to choose from - vanilla, double dutch chocolate or combination (vanilla & double dutch chocolate).
Price for soft serve ice cream:
Cup or waffle cone - $ 3.50
Kids cone - $ 3
Double dutch special - $ 5 (with combination of vanilla and chocolate ice cream, salted caramel topping and stroopwafel wedge)
Whereas for the potato twister, you can choose your seasoning - sea salt, chicken salt, herb & garlic, Mexican chili, salt & vinegar, smoked BBQ or parmesan & cracked pepper. Sze had the parmesan & cracked pepper seasoning while Ryan had the sea salt seasoning. Both of us decided not to have any fried food as we have yet to recover from our sore throat. Chyme bought us scones and it was my first scones. It's bread like texture served with cream. The cream is light and fluffy.

Chyme reserved a table for dinner at Old Kingdom Peking Duck Restaurant. Before that we went to Eastland to get Ryan a gift. Glad that he loves it so much. Since Chyme's car can only fit 5 people and there's 6 of us here, my partner accompany his cousin to take a train to our dinner place. This restaurant is famous for its Peking duck and seriously it's good. You must pre order your Peking duck one day in advance. It's one of Ryan's favourite place for dinner. The Peking duck has a thin crisp skin, tender and flavourful. Most importantly there's no gamey taste. One of the best dinner that we had in Melbourne and thanks to Lee for the delicious dinner treat.
