Diary of Ximen - Taipei, Taiwan

Ximending is one of the most popular tourist spot with a wide selection of fashionable clothing, accessories and food in Taipei. We stayed 2 nights at Diary of Ximen, strategically located in Ximending shopping area and just 4 minutes walk from Ximen Station. This hotel provides transport arrangements to the airport for a flat of NT$ 1,000. However, you need to make early reservation at the reception desk.

We checked in quite late on our first night around 1.20am in the morning and we skipped breakfast the next day. We stayed in a standard double room comes with a double bed, air-conditioned room, working desk, flat-screen TV with variety of cable channels, free WiFi, disposable slippers, toiletries, hair dryer, in-room safe, mini fridge, 2 complimentary bottles of drinking water and coffee or tea making facilities. Simple, clean and comfortable room.

Small bathroom comes with a walk in shower enclosure. However, shower drain far too slowly causing minor flooding when taking a hot bath. Apart from that our toilet was clogged and we have to request housekeeping for assistance. Only then we realized there's a note on the bathroom wall stated "Please do not flush tissue paper into this toilet" OMG... how could we not flush the used tissue papers into the toilet? The housekeeping lady told us to throw used tissue into the trash next to it. This is due to Taiwan's plumbing unable to take the added strain of toilet paper flushed down the toilet.

On our last day, we checked out quite early in the morning around 6.45am as we need to catch an early flight back home. We have already pre-booked taxi to the airport via hotel reception one day before and the taxi driver arrived 15 minutes earlier than expected. We had a quick breakfast before we left the hotel by 7.15am. Breakfast starts from 7am to 10am and the counter hall provides 24 hours free coffee drinks for guest.

Check out time: 12pm

Our stay in  Kinabalu Pine Resort  comes with breakfast for 2 adults. Breakfast start from 7am to 10am. They only serve ala-carte breakfast and you need to pre-book it at The Pines Restaurant latest by 9.30pm for your next day's breakfast. There's Malay, Chinese, Western or kids breakfast set. Apart from that, there's free flow of Tenom coffee, Sabah tea, mango and orange juice. Hounon Ridge Farmstay & Camping - Kundasang, Sabah

Hounon Ridge Farmstay is located at Kampung Himbaan Bundu Tuhan, 36 minutes drive from Kundasang town. The road heading to Bundu Tuhan is very steep and narrow. There's no street light and driving at night can be hazardous if you are not familiar with the road condition. Be particularly alert when driving and watch out for cows, chickens and stray dogs on the side of the road. There's 4 types of room available. If you are the adventurous type and not afraid of cold, you can even camp outside Hounon Ridge Farmstay. Our room was on the 1st floor overlooking Mount Kinabalu. Great view and you can slide the glass window to get some fresh air.
