La Vie Motel - Taoyuan, Taiwan
La Vie Motel is located in Guishan District, between Taoyuan Airport and Vendome Hotel. It's only 19 minutes drive from Taoyuan Airport and 22 minutes drive from Vendome Hotel. Our friend recommended us to stay in this motel owned by his aunt. It is easier for us to attend his wedding dinner as this motel is only 9 minutes drive from the wedding restaurant, "金湯匙餐廳" (Gold Spoon Flowery Wedding Restaurant)
We stayed 2 nights at La Vie Motel. First night we stayed in a standard room (sponsored by our friend) and on the 2nd night we stayed in a deluxe room. It's part of the motel policy that guests staying more than one night must check out everyday and vacate the room. You can only check in again by 9pm. So it's rather inconvenient if you have a wedding dinner to attend and you need to get ready by 6pm. Luckily our friends managed to extend their room on the 2nd day and all four of us took turns to get ready for the wedding dinner.
On the first night, we checked in around 8.30pm after dinner. We stayed in a standard room, decorated in a modern and elegant way. Both room and bathroom were so spacious. Room comes with a wall mounted flat-screen cable TV (variety of channels), double bed, individual air-conditioning with thermostat control, couch, work desk, high speed internet, coffee or tea making facilities, 2 complimentary bottles of drinking water and can drinks, mini fridge, complete set of toiletries, disposable slippers, hair dryer and a whirlpool bathtub. There's a flat screen TV over the whirlpool tub in the bathroom. You can enjoy your soak while watching TV and we stumbled upon an adult video while surfing the channels! Apart from that shower was great too.
Room rate includes buffet breakfast for 2 person. The restaurant is situated on the 1st floor and you can enjoy your breakfast from 7am to 10.30am. If you would like to have your breakfast in the room, they will deliver directly to the room with an extra charge of NT$ 100 per person. Simple breakfast and the food that I enjoyed most was the combination of porridge and meat floss. On the 2nd day, we decided to skip breakfast and stayed in bed instead.
On the 2nd night, we stayed in a deluxe room and checked in around 10pm after the wedding dinner. The difference is the room design and this deluxe room comes with a private parking. Besides that, there's karaoke system in the room as well. However, we couldn't find the microphone and the song listings. Everything is in Chinese and since I'm from a Methodist school and he's from a Malay school, it looks like an alien language to us! We didn't really make a big fuss about it since both of us were not a big fan of karaoke. Overall a pleasant stay and our friend was right. You don't feel like stepping out from the room once you have checked in.
