Restaurant Nong & Jimmy (Thai Seafood BBQ) - Ampang, Selangor

I was looking through all my old food photos and saw these. Nong & Jimmy, one of my favourite Thai Seafood BBQ restaurant. How time flies! The last time we had Nong & Jimmy was 8 months ago. If you are looking for a pleasant, comfortable and air-conditioned dining environment, this is not the right place for you. The restaurant is covered with zinc roof, cement flooring, simple plastic tables and chairs. However, the queues were really crazy during weekends. Go early before 6.30pm to avoid the crowds. There's no proper seating arrangement. You just have to keep an eye on those customers who are leaving, stand next to the table and wait!

My favourite food in this restaurants are prawn cakes, mango salad, fried rice and black pepper style crab. Many customers will order their famous mini "yau char kwai" (golden-brown deep fried dough) served with green homemade kaya and BBQ cockles while waiting for the food to come. Since I'm not a big fan of kaya nor cockles, we skipped this starter. 

Fried rice with beaten eggs and prawns were good. It might look innocent but you can just eat it on its own. Besides that, prawn cake was delicious too. Crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside. Another appetizing dish is the mango salad filled with sweet and sour flavours. Consist of fried cuttlefish, peanuts, chili, sugar and fresh mango. I just love the fried cuttlefish. It's crispy and a perfect combination with the fresh mango. Black pepper style crab was good too. Slightly spicy, very flavourful but not overpowering hot. I'm not so keen on their tomyam soup that comes with prawns, squid, tomato, button mushrooms, curry leaves and spring onion. The dish was just ok for me.

Our stay in  Kinabalu Pine Resort  comes with breakfast for 2 adults. Breakfast start from 7am to 10am. They only serve ala-carte breakfast and you need to pre-book it at The Pines Restaurant latest by 9.30pm for your next day's breakfast. There's Malay, Chinese, Western or kids breakfast set. Apart from that, there's free flow of Tenom coffee, Sabah tea, mango and orange juice. Hounon Ridge Farmstay & Camping - Kundasang, Sabah

Hounon Ridge Farmstay is located at Kampung Himbaan Bundu Tuhan, 36 minutes drive from Kundasang town. The road heading to Bundu Tuhan is very steep and narrow. There's no street light and driving at night can be hazardous if you are not familiar with the road condition. Be particularly alert when driving and watch out for cows, chickens and stray dogs on the side of the road. There's 4 types of room available. If you are the adventurous type and not afraid of cold, you can even camp outside Hounon Ridge Farmstay. Room type: a) Standard quad room b) Standard double room without balcony c) Standard double room with balcony d) Dormitory - 10 person e) Camping We stayed in a standard double room without balcony. Our room was on the 1st floor overlooking Mount Kinabalu. Great view and you can slide the glass window to get some fresh air.
