M Boutique Ipoh - Ipoh, Perak

Our first night at M Roof Hotel & Residences was not very pleasant. Instead of staying two nights there, we decided to change hotel and give M Boutique Ipoh a try. This motel is around a 4-minute drive (1.3km) from my favourite Restaurant Tauge Ayam Lou Wong. The motel has only three stories and an open-air parking lot behind it.

We stayed one night in a superior room that comes with a queen-size bed, a TV with limited channels, a working desk, air conditioning with individual temperature control, three complimentary bottles of drinking water, coffee or tea making facilities, a mini fridge, two pairs of disposable slippers, two bathrobes, an in-room safe, a wall-mounted hair dryer, a torch light, complimentary WiFi and basic toiletries.

The room is small yet well-designed. They even have a chandelier but I'm not comfortable sleeping with one right above our heads. Perhaps I watch to many horror movies, as if the chandelier will fall on our bed. The bed is comfy and comes with four pillows. The room is not soundproof because I can hear raindrops pelting the wall and metal plates when it rains.

Just like M Roof Hotel & Residences, the bathroom has a sliding door design but the latch is broken. The bathroom is quite small and cramped, with no proper ventilation system. So when someone poops, the entire room stinks! Apart from that, the motel only provides one small bottle of shower gel which is insufficient for the two of us. The towel appears to be worn and there isn't much space in the bathroom to hang clothes. The shower and toilet cubicles are separated by a clear glass and share a difficult-to-slide transparent sliding door. The water pressure is low but the water is hot enough. Aside from that, the basin drains slowly. There's a wall-mounted facial mirror, but it's just too high for me.

A keycard is required for access to guest room floor. There's free self service laundry (including detergent and softener) and dryer at level 1. Motel facilities include a gym and a lounge with a pool table.
