Pom Pom Island Resort - Pom Pom Island, Sabah

Pom Pom Island Resort is approximately 50 minutes boat ride from Jetty Pelancongan Bangau Bangau, Semporna. There's 3 types of villa - Beach Villa (22 units), Garden Villa (19 units) and Water Villa (5 units). We booked a 3 days 2 nights Water Villa non diver package @ RM 2,800 for 2 person. Package includes boat transfer (from Jetty Pelancongan Bangau Bangau - Pom Pom Island Resort - Mataking Reef Resort), jetty levy fee, 2 nights accommodation (twin/triple sharing room with air-conditioning, fresh hot water shower & attached bathroom), full board meals (breakfast, lunch & dinner) with free flow of coffee, tea and chill juice at restaurant (except alcohol, carbonated drinks and fresh juice).

Water Villa comes with a king size bed, 1 single bed, in-room safe, mosquito repellent, working desk, couch, ceiling fan, self controlled air conditioning, 2 pairs of slippers, hair dryer, toiletries, coffee or tea making facilities and 4 bottles of drinking water. There's a private balcony overlooking the blue sea but be aware of mosquitoes and sand flies. Our room is very spacious and clean. Bed is slightly bouncy but the bedsheets and pillow smell good.

Bathroom comes with a clean bathtub and there's an opening window overlooking the sea. However, bathtub is leaking and same goes for the shower head. Water pressure is low and there's just not enough hot water to fill the bathtub. Apart from that, some wood paneling for walls are starting to rot. Their wardrobe looks old as well. There's no fridge, TV, umbrella or WiFi in the villa. The resort only has a coverage network for Celcom. If you wish to have coverage line during your stay, you may subscribe to Celcom/Tunetalk before check in to the resort.

Room is warm even with AC and ceiling fan running. After being checked by the maintenance guy, seems that the AC needs servicing. Basically they did not get back to us on the room and we have to chase them for an update. Eventually they let us move to a different Water Villa but they did not offer any help to transfer our luggage. So we moved to Water Villa 1 but it's not any better because one of the toilet light is flickering, working desk light is not working, water pressure is worst than Water Villa 3 as shower hose is leaking and bathtub water drainage is slow. Overall the rooms are poorly maintained and they fails to meet customer expectations in terms of service quality and response time.
