Shin Boon Kee - Penang

Chai buey (spicy and sour mustard green stew) mean leftover vegetables in Hokkien is generally consists of leftover meats and vegetables. It's a popular dish among the Hokkiens and often cooked during Chinese New Year. I never had chai buey before and the first time I had it was at my partner's hometown during Chinese New Year. It's really good. It's a very appetizing dish due to the spicy and tangy taste.

Our friend Mu Mu recommended us to try this Shin Boon Kee shop and guess what? This is one of the best chai buey that I had so far. It has the perfect spicy, sweet and sour balance. All my taste buds come alive after eating this chai buey. We ordered via Grab food a packet of chai buey and one portion of chicken rice with roasted drumsticks and roasted pork for our late lunch when we were staying at Shangri-La's Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa. Not only the chai buey is superb but also their chicken rice is good too. Chicken is tender and juicy. It's so good that two days later after we checked out from the hotel, we decided to have our lunch there. We even take away one packet of chai buey after our lunch. Thanks Mu Mu for the recommendation!
