3D Inn Hong Kong
3D Inn Hong Kong is located in Tsim Sha Tsui, just less than 1 minute walk to MTR Tsim Sha Tsui Station Exit D1 and Tsui Wah Cafe. Apart from that, it is just 8 minutes walking distance to Avenue of Stars. Even though it is strategically located, the building itself is a bit rundown. It's a flat above shops. You'll find plenty of tailors as well as money changers on the ground floor. We didn't know it was exhibition week until we arrived at Hong Kong International Airport. All the hotels either fully booked or very expensive. We made a huge mistake by booking a last minute hotel as we were hoping for a best deal.
Finally we booked 3D Inn Hong Kong through agoda.com which was the cheapest and this one star hotel price increased by more than five times compared to the off-peak rate. Upon arrival, we went to 13th floor for registration. (Do take note of the elevator as it only serve even or odd number floors) Front desk staff was very nice and friendly. In fact she allowed us to check in early when we arrived around 12.30pm since there's room available. Besides that, I was quite impressed with the fast check out on our last day.
Our room was small, simple and clean but it has a mildew smell. Room comes with free wifi and works at a resonable speed. There's free toiletries, slippers, hairdryer, wall mounted TV with limited channels, air conditioning with individual control and a hot & cold water dispenser at the hallway. Bathroom comes with hot and cold shower. Since it's an independent storage type of electric water heater, you need to turn on the heater 5 minutes before use and hot water is enough for 15 minute use only. Hotel housekeeper do not change your towels during housekeeping. If you desire a daily new towel exchange, you need to proceed to the reception area on 13th floor.
If you are a light sleeper, don't stay here. The walls are so thin that you can hear your neighbours taking a shower! Of course not to mention you can hear people walking and talking early morning in the corridors. What a coincidence! While we were there, a man was murdered in a guest house room on the 5th floor. We were just staying one floor below. The police barricaded the crime scene and we saw them carrying out a trash search. At night, we bumped into the police officers again speaking to reporters. It's just like an episode of CSI and I'm watching it live! It's simply unbelivable.
