Hat Yai - Day 3 (Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Natural History Museum)

It's our third and final day at Hat Yai. Instead of having hotel breakfast, we decided to try out this shop recommended by our friend. Chen Loong Boat Noodle is just 1 minute walking distance (110m) from Lee Gardens Plaza Hotel Hat Yai. I had the dry version of beef noodle that comes with slices of meat and beef balls. Each bowl of beef noodles comes with mint leaves and bean sprouts. The portion is not very big and you get to choose your noodle type. I like the thin rice noodle texture but the broth has this aftertaste of sweetness, which I don't really enjoy. Apart from that, the meat tastes more like pork than beef to me. After breakfast, we walked back to our hotel and checked out at 10am.

Our driver picked us up at 10am and drove us to the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Natural History Museum. On the way, we dropped by Thong Sia Siang Thung Foundation as Jon and his family would like to make a donation.

We had our lunch at KoTi-OCha Restaurant, approximately 15 minutes drive (3.8 km) from the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Natural History Museum. We ordered bak kut teh, deep fried dough stick, Hainanese chicken with offal, chicken rice, roasted pork, roasted crispy pork belly with chili and salt and mee suah. The Hainanese chicken is good. Chicken is tender and juicy, and it pairs perfectly with the sauce. Bak kut teh soup is nice but no doubt the best place for bak kut teh is still in Klang. I had mee suah soup which comes with fish balls, meat balls, sprinkled with spring onions and fried garlic. It's a decent and comforting dish.

We left the shop around 12.25pm and reached Sadao border checkpoint one hour twenty minutes later. We need to give them back the arrival card and adults have to scan all ten fingers on the fingerprint machine. The journey back to Penang took approximately two hours and forty minutes. That basically concludes our 3 days 2 nights vacation to Hat Yai...

Total bill - THB 1,275
