Taiwan - Day 5 (Raohe Night Market)

We decided to have our breakfast at Family Mart just a short walking distance from the place where we stayed on our 5th day in Taoyuan. We had sausages, milk tea, fruit milk, chicken wings and cup noodles. There's just so many types of cup noodles! I randomly picked one and it turned out to be a good choice. :)

We joined Ben for late lunch at this restaurant, just few shops away from Family Mart. I had beef noodles while my partner had beef rice. Our lunch comes with free flow of drink. Not the best beef noodles around but it has a pleasant environment.

A trip to Taiwan is not complete without a visit to one of their night markets. We plan to visit Raohe Market since my partner never been there before. So we requested Alan to dropped us at Huilong Station (Zhonghe-Xinlu Line - yellow line) and took MRT from Huilong Station to Songjiang Nanjing Station. Then we switched from (Zhonghe-Xinlu Line) yellow line to (Songshan-Xindian Line) green line and stopped at Songshan Station. (Cost: NT 36)

Raohe night market is just opposite Songshan Station. It's drizzling when we reached there but luckily all the markets are open. Ben followed us to the market as well and first thing that we had was herbal pork rib soup. It's great to have a bowl of hot soup on a rainy day. There's several stall selling the same herbal pork rib soup but Ben said this is one of the best that he had so far. I'm not a big fan of herbal soup so I'm glad that we just ordered one small bowl.

We had other street food such as peanut roll with ice cream, sausages, roasted beef, grilled squid, sweet potato balls, fried quail eggs, guavas, egg tarts, muachi (glutinous rice flour balls sprinkled with roasted peanuts), grass jelly milk tea and watermelon juice. My favourite was the grass jelly milk tea. It's very refreshing and not too sweet. Fried quail egg was nice too but I still prefer the one that I had at Tamsui. It's cheaper (NT 20 for 7 quails eggs) and the sauce taste better. We were so full from all the street snacks and we decided to call it a night.

So we took MRT from Songshan Station (green line) to Songjiang Nanjing Station then switched to yellow line and stopped at Sanchong Station (Cost: NT 24). Next, we took the Taoyuan Airport MRT from Sanchong Station to National Taiwan Sport University Station (Cost: NT 45) The entire public transport journey only cost us NT 105. This is one of the cheapest way to travel without any hassle to look for parking at the night market.

Note: NT$ 1 = RM 0.1460
