Taiwan - Day 2 (Taipei City Mall - Ximending - Mitsui Outlet Park Linkou)
On our 2nd day in Taiwan, we decided to buy an EasyCard - a contactless smartcard system for payment on the Taipei MRT or buses. The card cost NT 100 and you can reload with a minimum of NT 100 and maximum of NT 10,000. This card can be used for transportation, convenient store such as 7-eleven, Family Mart and other authorized store. For more information you can check out their website: EasyCard. It's convenient to own an EasyCard as you can ride the MRT or buses without the need to search for loose change or purchase the ticket from the ticket machines.
We took MRT from National Taiwan Sport University Station to Taipei Main Station (Cost NT 60). On the way to National Taiwan Sport University Station, we stopped by 7-eleven to grab a bottle of Latte and a packet of mini hot dogs. This bottle of Latte taste so much better than the milk tea that I had yesterday.

Taipei City Mall is an underground mall starting at the Taipei Main Station. It happened to be Taiwan's National Day that day and most of the shops were closed. We walked through the store and stumbled upon this beef noodle shop. We randomly picked this shop and it turned out to be quite good. Beef was tender, soup was flavourful and they even provide free flow of drinks.

We walked from Taipei City Mall to Ximending and it took us approximately 20 minutes. Weather wasn't really promising that day and it was drizzling the whole day. We stopped by KFC and bought their Portuguese egg tart. They have this set of one Portuguese egg tart comes with a drink and fries. (Cost NT 58) It was good. Freshly baked egg tart with crunchy crust and soft egg custard.

Just 1 minute walk from KFC is Ay-Chung flour rice noodle (mee suah). This is one of my favourite shop and I might say it's my "must eat food" when I'm in Taipei. As usual there's always a queue but it's fast moving. There's no proper place for you to sit and eat. So we stood at the corner and had our mee suah.

It's still drizzling after we had our mee suah. So we decided to take MRT (Bannan Line) from Ximen Station to Taipei Main Station. (Cost NT 16) Then, from Taipei Main Station we took the Taoyuan Airport MRT line to Linkou Station (Cost NT 70). Mitsui Outlet Park is just 7 minutes walking distance from Linkou Station. We did some window shopping and bought a glass of grass jelly juice with pearls and grass jelly. It's nice and very refreshing.

Ben came and pick us up at Mitsui Outlet Park for dinner. We had a wonderful meal together with Uncle Xie and his family members. We were so stuffed with the amount of dishes ordered. I was very impressed with the presentation of their dessert. It looks like a mushroom from the outside but it's actually steamed bun with a sweet bean paste filling. Bun was soft and fluffy. Love it!
