Dragon Palace - Perth, Western Australia

We had dim sum for brunch at Dragon Palace located within the Cockburn Gateway Shopping Centre precinct. The restaurant was quite packed during lunch time and dim sum cart will be served around the restaurant without customer leaving their seats. We ordered steamed chicken with spicy sauce, deep fried prawn dumpling with mayonnaise, steamed spare ribs with black bean, deep fried crispy pastry stuffed with prawns, King prawn siew mai and roasted duck.

My favourite was the steamed chicken with spicy sauce. It's served cold and the sauce was a bit spicy for me. However, chicken was tender and juicy. Besides that, I like their deep fried crispy pastry stuffed with prawns and wrapped in rice noodles. Prawns were fresh and it's a perfect combination with the crispy pastry and rice noodles. Roasted duck on the other hand was good too without any gamey taste but skin wasn't crispy enough.

My least favourite was the steamed spare ribs with black bean. Somehow, I don't really enjoyed the sauce and taste of the spare ribs. Since I preferred a thin and tender dumpling wrappers, King prawn sui mai's skin was a bit dry out and thick for me. Same goes for the deep fried prawn dumpling's skin.

One week later, we decided to return and try out their dinner menu instead. We ordered stewed E-Fu noodles with lobster, stewed pork with special sauce, roasted duck and stir fried water spinach with chilies and shrimp paste. The first dish they served us was the E-Fu noodles with lobster and it has a strong ginger taste. Lobster was sweet and fresh. Lobster often viewed as a delicacy or an expensive food. It tastes like prawn and has a distinct flavour of its own. Stewed pork with special sauce tasted so so for us. It has a strong "porky" taste which I don't really fancy but I enjoyed the water spinach very much because it's fresh with young tender leaves.
