The Pacific Sutera Hotel - Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

A special thanks to our friend for giving us a complimentary two nights stay in a deluxe golf view room at The Pacific Sutera Hotel. We really enjoyed our stay and had a wonderful stress free time at The Pacific Sutera Hotel. Best moment was lying in the gently swaying hammock and listened to the sounds of the ocean waves at night. Apart from that, the private beach is a great place to watch the sunset. Click here to see the sunset photos taken using my Sony Cybershoot RX100.

Deluxe room comes with a king size bed, LCD TV, in room safe box, working desk, iron, ironing board, robe, slippers, complimentary snack and 2 bottles of drinking water, tea and coffee making facilities, complimentary internet connection, self controlled air conditioning, limited Astro Channel (Astro Citra, Arena, Fox movies, AXN, Australia Plus, Nickelodeon, Kah Lai Toi, Phoenix, NHK, KBS World, CCTV 4, CCTV News, Asian Food Channel, Al-Jazeera, BBC World, CNBC Asia, Fox Sport 2 and Golf Channel), hairdryer, bathroom with cold or hot shower and a bathtub.

The hotel and room looks a bit old but the room is clean and comfortable. Bathroom is very spacious. However, there's black stain under the rim of the toilet bowl. I was taken aback because I was expecting a sparkling toilet bowl from a 5 star hotel. Shower and toilet is separated with a glass door. So you don't have to worry about soaking wet floor when using the toilet. There's a wooden window beside the bathtub where you can enjoy your bath while watching TV.

Complimentary internal shuttle service is available from 0600 hours to 0100 hours daily. City shuttle service tickets are also available at the Concierge and must be presented upon boarding the bus. Return trip to the Resort is based on seat availability and city shuttle service is chargeable at:

Adult: RM 3.20
Child (6 - 12 years): RM 1.60
Child (below 6 years): Complimentary (applicable if not occupying a seat)

*Bus fares are inclusive of 6% GST. Departs from The Magellan Sutera Resort or The Pacific Sutera Hotel to Imago Mall,  Kota Kinabalu City Waterfront and Wisma Merdeka. The Pacific Sutera Hotel is just 5 minutes drive from the city centre.

We decided to have our brunch at Marina Cafe before checking out from The Pacific Sutera Hotel on our last day. Marina Cafe is an open-air restaurant overlooking the sea, yachts, hotels, swimming pools, boardwalk and the spectacular evening sunsets. The cafe is exclusive to Club members, their guests and hotel guests only, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

We ordered mee mamak (stir fried yellow noodles with bean curd, sawi (mustard vegetables), coconut fritters, chicken and tomato in sweet and spicy thick soya paste) and fish & chips (battered fried white fish served with fries, tartar sauce and salad on the side). The batter was too thick for me and fries were not crispy. Simple but expensive brunch meal. Overall taste was just so-so.
