Restoran Chan Meng Kee - Petaling Jaya

Wonton noodles or known as "wantan min" in cantonese is a noodle dish served with dumplings "wantan" and slices of pork "char siew". Often served dry or you can have the soup version as well, "wantan min" is a common food that you can find in any hawker stall.

Since it was a weekend, we decided to try something new for our lunch and headed to Restoran Chan Meng Kee. This restaurant only served noodles, curry noodles and rice. Basically you can order your noodles or rice with either bbq pork, roast chicken, roast pork, braise mushroom chicken feet, braise beef, hainanese chicken, wild pork or pork rib curry. I ordered the basic bbq pork wanton noodles while my partner ordered the roast chicken and bbq pork noodles. We waited for almost 25 minutes and finally our food arrived.

I love the taste and texture of the noodles - not too hard and not too soggy. It blends perfectly well with the pickled green chili. You will also discover a lot of crispy deep fried pork lard once you started mixing the noodles! Besides that, the bbq pork was tender and the roast chicken was really good. It was juicy, tender and most importantly the chicken skin was crispy. However the wanton tasted normal for me. Be prepared to wait for at least 15 minutes to half an hour during lunch time as the restaurant will be very crowded.
