Casa Casa - Semporna, Sabah

Casa Casa is located in Semporna town, just 1km from the Sipadan Kapalai Resort Jetty. The motel is a converted shop lot with only two floors. Upon check-in, we were assigned a room in a different building. It was located next to Secawan Cafe, approximately a 2-minute walk (110m) from the reception area. A deposit of RM 50 was required at check-in. One of the staff members led us there and carried my partner's luggage, while my partner had to drag mine.

The room was on the first floor and could only be accessed by stairs, which were quite dark. The only security measure in place was scanning your room card before entering the staircase leading to the rooms. One drawback was that the door could be locked from the inside. If another guest accidentally locked it, those outside would not be able to enter the building through that entrance. However, there was also an open sliding door from Secawan Cafe that connected directly to the same staircase.

The building had four rooms, while the main building had eight. The room itself was quite basic, with no TV, in-room safe, mini fridge, or floor towel, and the walls looked worn out. Only one bottle of glass drinking water was provided in the room, but there was a hot and cold water dispenser available outside the room.

We slept on a tatami-style bed, which was bouncy and firm, while the pillows were comfortable. The tatami-style floor had a raised step, and my partner tripped over it a few times during our stay. The room also had a small balcony that looked out onto the street. At times, the corridor was noisy due to Chinese tourists speaking loudly. Besides that, the towel provided did not absorb water very well, and the toilet seat screw had come loose, causing the seat to move easily. On the positive side, the water pressure was quite strong, better than Pearl Island Resort, and the water was hot enough. The air conditioner worked very well and kept the room very cold. Overall, the room was clean and well-kept, though a bit basic and not very cozy for lounging around.

Breakfast was included and served at Secawan Cafe from 6.30am to 10.30am. Guests were required to place their order in advance at the reception upon check-in. The breakfast menu offered a variety of options, including:

1. Overnight oats - organic oat, chia seed, oatmilk and fruit
2. Roti canai - authentic Malaysian flatbread with vege curry
3. Peanut toast - peanut butter, cheese and egg
4. Sourdough bread - sourdough bread, butter and jam
5. Wrap - chicken slice, cheese, egg and green
6. Big breakfast - baby croissant, chicken slice, scramble egg and green
7. Instant noodle (chicken / curry) - noodle, egg and vege
8. Savory chicken toast - chicken slice, cheese and egg
9. Dry instant noodle - noodle, egg and vege
10. Vietnam roll - chicken slice, green and fish sauce
