Sojourn Guest House - Ipoh, Perak

Ipoh has always been one of our favorite cities when it comes to food. Basically 3 days 2 nights stay in Ipoh is just enough for us to satisfy our food cravings. So this round we decided to stay at Sojourn Guest House. We arrived Ipoh around 3.30pm, had our favourite "nga choy kai" (bean sprouts chicken) at Restaurant Tauge Ayam Lou Wong before we check in to the guest house.

We stayed in a superior twin room, comes with 2 single beds, in-room safe, study table, smart TV that connects to a WiFi network, mini fridge, unsealed drinking water (there's a hot and cold water dispenser at every floor), iron, ironing board, disposable slippers, hair dryer, self controlled air conditioning and toiletries. They only provide tea bags (no coffee) at the pantry area. However, the tray is always empty.

Room is spacious and clean. Bed is very comfy and same goes for the comforter and pillow. I was unable to connect their smart TV to the internet and hotel room phone is not working as well. So on the way back from our dinner, we stopped by the front desk and request for assistance. The staff was very prompt and helpful. He checked the hotel room phone and seems that the phone cable was unplugged. One of the TV remote controller went missing as well. He tried signing in using the new TV remote controller but failed. Ended up he proposed that we change to a new room since maintenance people will only be available in the morning to check on the TV settings. So we moved to another room and the TV is working fine but the sound system is quite poor. Well, at least now we can watch YouTube and other online TV channels. However, at times there's some lagging issue with the network.

Bathroom looks clean and shower is separated from the toilet with its own cubicle. There's no lock for both the shower and toilet door. Initially we're getting only lukewarm shower. The staff told us that they are using solar water heater and the only way to have a hot shower is to run both the basin tap and shower head for 5 minutes. Right after that, the lukewarm shower turned into hot steamy shower! Well, that indeed made my day. The only setback was bathroom vanity is a bit low and there's no facial mirror.

Parking is free and self service laundry is available at level 3. You just need to purchase a RM 5 token each for washing and drying from the receptionist area. It only takes 30 minutes each for washing and drying. A key card is not required to access the lift. The guest house smells good with lemongrass tea scents. There's a jug of lemongrass tea for guests but what grosses me out is there's lipstick stains on my glass! I only realized that after finished drinking my cup of tea. Overall it's a pleasant stay.
