APA Hotel Shinjuku Kabukicho Tower - Tokyo

APA Hotel Shinjuku Kabukicho Tower is located in Shinjuku. This hotel is easily accessible to malls, variety of restaurants and it's just 7 minutes (500m) walking distance from Shinjuku Station. There's a Family Mart just right opposite the hotel and 7-eleven is just less than 100m away from the hotel. The area is very lively with lots of entertainment and nightlife. Even at 1am, there's plenty of people and there's a police box nearby the hotel. We saw two police officers patrolling the area on our second night and questioned a tomboy who looked suspicious to them. Somehow, it makes me feel kind of safe staying here.

Upon arrival, we did an early check in (3 hours earlier). Normal check in time is 3pm and we have to pay additional ¥ 3,000 for the early check in. We stayed in a double room that comes with a queen-sized bed. The room is very small but it's clean. The only place we can put our cabin size luggage is under the table or between the bed and the fridge area. You have to keep them closed all the time because there's not enough space for an open luggage. We're glad that we always travel light with our 20 inch cabin luggage. We saw a couple with two large 28 inch luggage bag inside the lift. We were wondering how are they going to fit that bag in the tiny room?

We did a self check in using the kiosk after we confirmed our booking with the hotel staff at the reception area. They gave us 2 bottles of complimentary coffee and there's no drinking water available on the first day. They will only provide it on the second day onwards. There's a signage saying the water is drinkable from the bathroom tap. However, if you're not used to drinking tap water there's coffee and tea facilities available or you can purchase mineral water from the vending machines in the lower ground floor.

The room comes with a working desk, large LCD TV with limited channels (there's adult channel available for subscription), hair dryer, yukata, disposable slippers, room slippers, mini fridge and complete toiletries including disposable towel. The air conditioner was set only on heat mode. At first we didn't know about it until we woke up at midnight feeling warm. Luckily there's an air purifier on the floor. Initially I thought that was the heater because all the words were written in Japanese! Shower was great with good water pressure and water was very hot. Hotel facilities include large public baths at 28th floor which opens from 3pm to 11am. The place is crowded from 10pm till 1am. Men and women are separated which include bathing naked.

Room rate - RM 1,239.81 for 4 days 3 nights excluding breakfast
Extended another night - ¥ 16,000 per night
Early checked in - ¥ 1,000 per hour
