Sydney - Day 2 (Bondi Junction - Tamarama beach - Bondi baths - Bondi beach)

We started off Day 2 in Sydney with a healthy homemade breakfast by Shyan and Leo. They prepared bread with cherry tomatoes, mashed avocado served with omelette and spring onions for us :). Thank you for the wonderful breakfast... After we had our breakfast, they drove us to Bondi Junction to meet up with Daz and Sam for yum cha (eating dim sum). Dim sum is a Chinese cuisine of steamed or fried savoury served in small baskets or on small plates.

We had our dim sum at Zilver Chinese Cuisine Alchemy located in Bondi Junction, a large shopping centre. We reached there before 11.30am and the crowd started showing up by noon. Glad that we went early! There's ladies pushing carts of food around the dining room and we ordered different types of dim sum. Shyan and Leo kept ordering until we were so full and couldn't eat anymore. Thanks for the lovely dim sum.

We moved our luggage to Daz's car as we will be spending few nights at their place. So Daz and Sam drove us to Bondi beach, one of Australia's most famous beach. It's approximately 15 minutes drive (3.2km) from Bondi Junction. Our timing was perfect because a one day festival of the Winds (kite festival) was held on that day. It's an annual kite flying event but we couldn't see much kite action. It took us 1.5 hours to find a parking spot and we have to walk 45 minutes to Bondi beach. We took a coastal walk and passed by Tamarama beach before reaching Bondi beach. You can surf waves, sun bathing or even go for a swim at the outdoor sea water adult and kid swimming pool.

Bondi Icebergs pool admission prices:
1. Adult swim / sauna - $ 8
2. Child / Australian seniors card holders - $ 5.50
3. Family ( 2 adults & up to 3 children ) - $ 24
4. Towel hire - $ 4

Swim passes:
1. Adult ( 25 visit pass ) - $ 160
2. Child ( 25 visit pass ) - $ 110

Operation hours: Mon to Fri - 6am to 6.30pm

We had the world famous deep fried Mars at Bondi Surf Seafoods. It's nice but just a bit sweet for my liking. We strolled through the stores before heading back to our parking spot. Along the beach, we spotted 2 dolphins swimming off the coast of Tamarama beach. It was a rare sighting for us and we were so lucky to be able to see it.

We left Bondi beach around 5pm and it took us 1 hour to reach Outback Steakhouse located at Old Windsor Road. We ordered Blommin' onion as our appetizer followed by our mains - baby back ribs and Outback special, their signature sirloin seasoned with bold spices and seared just right. Their Blommin' onions is hand craved, cooked until golden and ready to dip into their spicy signature bloom sauce. It was good. I love the potato soup too. It's rich and creamy.

Baby back ribs on the other hand is lightly smoked, brushed in their tangy BBQ sauce and served with chips, house made pickles and coleslaw. All their signature steaks are served with your choice of a cup of soup or side salad and your choice of one fresh side (chips, loaded baked potato, sweet potato, fresh seasonal veggies, coleslaw, mashed potatoes, brown rice and quinoa and fried smashed potatoes with Parmesan cheese and rosemary salt) You can choose your sauce as well - mushroom, red wine demi-glace, classic pepper, bearnaise or chimcichurri (olive oil infused with garlic, parsley, basil, crushed red chili and spices)

Select a cut for your steak:
1. Sirloin - cut from the loin, a lean steak with little fat, providing hearty beef flavour
2. Filet - tenderloin cut, extremely tender and very popular
3. Strip steak - cut from the strip loin, combining both bold flavour and tenderness
4. Prime rib eye - cut from the primal rib, slow roasted to be juicy and tender
5. T-bone - cut from the short loin and combines the flavour of a strip and tenderness of a filet
6. Rib eye - from the rib, creating a generously marbled steak bursting with rich flavour and juiciness
7. Bone-In Rib eye - this cut is most flavourful because of the intense marbling of the meat

Temperature for your favourite cut:
1. Rare - cool red centre ( 52 to 55℃ )
2. Medium rare - warm red centre ( 55 to 60℃ )
3. Medium - warm pink centre, touch of red ( 60 to 65℃ )
4. Medium well - warm brown pink centre ( 65 to 69℃ )
5. Well done - hot brown centre, no pink ( 71℃+ )

Thanks Daz and Sam for the wonderful dinner treat :)...
