Philippines - Day 2 (Bonifacio Global City - Greenbelt)

Our initial plan was to have ramen for our brunch on our 2nd day in Manila. So we took a Grab car from New World Makati Hotel to Wrong Ramen (Cost: PHP 175) and reached there around 11.10am, perfect timing as the restaurant opens at 11am. However, due to election day they delayed in opening by 1 hour. So we walked around Bonifacio Global City and decided to have some pastries at Wild Flour Cafe and Bakery. This cafe is approximately 5 minutes walk (400m) from Wrong Ramen.

The cafe looks nice. We ordered a glass of smoothies, sticky bun and Croque Madame. Since I'm a big fan of strawberry, I decided to order my smoothies that has strawberry in it. So I ended up with Good Morning Sunshine smoothies consist of strawberry, pineapple, mango, banana, yogurt and honey. It's delicious and a fantastic way to start my day.

There's variety of pastries but I chose sticky bun. It's baked into fluffy, golden perfection. You can choose to be served warm. It's soft, gooey, sweet and nutty. One is definitely more than enough for me. My favourite is the Croque Madame comes with country ham, gruyere (tangy cheese), bechamel sauce (white sauce) and fried egg. The bread is crunchy and cheesy. I just love the stretchy melted cheese! Overall we're very satisfied with our brunch. :)

We hang around Bonifacio Global City before going back to this Wrong Ramen shop three hours later. We only ordered a bowl of Tonkotsu rich as we are still full from our earlier brunch. Tonkotsu rich comes with deep pork bone broth, onion leeks, chashu (soft slices of pork) and mushrooms. Broth is rich and flavourful. Slices of pork is good too. However, ramen is a bit hard for my liking.

After we had our late lunch, we went over to Robinsons Selections (just opposite Wrong Ramen) and bought a packet of dried mangoes and pickled mango before we took a Grab car back to our hotel. (Cost: PHP 155) Dried mangoes was nice but not the pickled mango. It's slightly soft and sourish. We decided to take a nap instead of going anywhere that afternoon. This is totally unlike me but somehow I was a bit tired that day...

We had our dinner at Manam, located in Greenbelt 2 just right opposite our hotel. The restaurant was full when we reach there around 7.15pm and we have to wait for a table. They have waiting chairs for you to sit and wait outside the restaurant. Approximately 15 minutes later, they called out names and our table is ready. We ordered four dishes - ensaladang namnam (green mango salad) comes with tinapa flakes, mangga't bagoong, pomelo, native tomatoes, red onions and peanuts, Butterfly pla pla with buro & mustasa, grilled tiger prawns topped with house made Aligue butter and crispy pata with garlic chili bits.

Ensaladang namnam tasted a bit sourish but it has a nice combination which makes it an appetizing dish. Love the crispy pata with garlic chili bits. Pork is so crispy and basically you can't taste the fats at all. Butterfly pla pla and grilled tiger prawns on the other hand is fresh and nice. However, I don't really enjoy their house made Aligue sauce because it has a unique taste.

We had our dessert at this St. Marc Cafe located in Greenbelt 3. I ordered Mango Fantasy - soft serve ice cream topped with fresh mango, a scoop of ice cream and pudding. At the bottom of their soft serve ice cream there's corn flakes and cake. I love their soft serve ice cream and mango but not their pudding. The pudding texture is too dense and lack of flavour. Overall it was a perfect way to end the day.
